#1 Recruiting Class

So, what do you guys think the chances are that we end the year #1 in recruiting. I think USC and OSU are the only ones that can catch us unless we loose some guys and sign no one else. I was looking at the top recruits on rivals and very few have Ohio State in there final 3-5. I think we finish in the top 3 no matter what but #1 would just be too sweet!

I'm not sure. I think we finish top 3. I dont think we finish #1. There are some teams that are slowly catching us. Top 3 would be just fine for me though. Hell top 5 would suffice.

The rankings are nice, but honestly I don't care if they rank this class 119th. Charlie and the staff have done a great job in bringing in top tier talent at every position. So really why do we care what the folks at rivals,scout, ane espn think ?

#1, #3, #9, or whatever, it doesn't matter because it's all subjective! If it was all clear-cut, Rivals and Scout would be nearly identical. Just knowing that the recruits are "graded" in a top 10-20 class lets you know they have talent coming in! Regardless though, it's the next fews years that matters ... what they do in terms of their own development, can they add to the TEAM chemistry and how the coaching staff brings them along is what counts, not whether they are voted the #1, #3, #9, or whatever recruiting class!

I could not give a sh&% if we are ranked number 1. What I care is that we fill all neccessary holes with top tier talent that WANTS to be at ND. This years recruits have all shown that want to be at ND and that they are the tops at their positions. I am excited to get them blended in with our currentl roster. ND has a bright future. Rankings don't mean shit unless they eventually transfer to the field. ND should end w/ a top 3 class if they at least sign all their current verbals. No way ESPN would ever give ND a #1 rank. That's like asking a liberal to vote for a conservative (or vice versa). Too much spite.

Ok we have all established 5x over that the rankings don't actually necessarily translate anything. Got it.

That being said I do think with scout/rivals we will end at numero uno. OSU and USuCk have limited scholarships to offer this year. We still have some high ranking recruits that we are in great standing with. If we end with 2 more recruits, then there is no way we get passed by anyone according to these sites.... which is nice.

Zook was a great recruiter at Florida but that didn't lead to national championships. As noted above these kids need to learn the college game, adjust to the speed, build chemistry with the 60 some other players, and get some game experience.

Next year's schedule will help both with the kids already on the team and this class coming in. But let's keep ourselves grounded. Charlie and company still need to develop all these kids and deliver that "nasty" he talked about in 2004. Right now a lot of work needs to be done. But the future is looking pretty damn good

The class ranking does matter! I may have had an influence on some of our recruits to be part of such a highly ranked class.

I've heard comments from other players such as Dan McCarthy during his announcement that he is joining what is currently ranked as the #1 recruiting class.

It matters to some of the recruits who believe all this talent will translate into success in 2008.

I also think class rankings matter, only because it makes a statement to the football world and analyst. Of course it doesn't matter because we've filled all our holes, but I do think it makes a statement. That said we should finish number 1.

As long as it's top 5, that's great. I'd like to see a #1 class though just so I can say ha to all these Vols fans down here. Hopefully the Irish will capitalize on the good class with a N.C. soon thats what I want. (doesn't everyone)

It appears Charlie has developed a new tactic this year(unless I missed it last year) by involving the new recruits more. It appears the recruits are interacting with one another more this year than I have witnessed in the past.

It would take a lot for another class to catch us. The current classes closest to us are just about full...

The schools that have an outside shot of knocking us off are Ohio State, USC, and Michigan. Michigan is a dark horse because we still don't know what will happen with their commits. I think they probablly ead for Terrell Pryor right now though so that will help. Ohio State and USC will need to land 6-7 more big time recruits each to have a chance, but it's possible.

But honestly, if we keep all our committed players and add a couple more guys, it's unlikely we will relinquish the top stot.

I remember hearing him say that he was changin from XP to Vista and his Power Hour program wasn't set up to run on Vista and that he'd have to be making some changes.

Come on...Rankings do matter. If we had a class outside the top 25, I'd b really concerned...Yes, it has a lot 2 do with the development of the players but has CW shown us he can do that yet? No. So bringing in a top 5 class only enhances his chances of developing the type of talent 2 take us 2 the promise land. U can talk all you want about West Virginia and teams like that but they usually have a run and shoot/option attack like offense which allows them to bring in a less talented all around class with a few standouts...CW and co are recruiting machines and obviously recruiting "experts" agree with his staff analysis as do I. Looking at tape of these kids, this is the best talent I've seen come to SB in years...

not very good if we loose Omar. I already believed that miami's was slightly better, but now with arthur brown on board, i think that it's hard to ignore that they may be better than ours. no doubt were number 2 though

OMG, the end of the world is coming. We have a great recruiting class and it could get better with Robinson, Walker or someone else added. I will not shed any tears if we are not ranked Number 1.

i agree. i like the class and the quality of person and player coming in. i think we at least get one more horse for the stable though and hold #1

Anywhere in the Top 5 would be fine with me!! The last 2 top 5 classes were 2006 (this year's sophs) and 2003 (I hope I don't need to remind anybody who was in that class and what they did). If we can be in the top 10 - 15 every year, the return to glory will be complete.

It would be nice to finish with the #1 class, but if we end up in the top 5 i will be very happy. Don't be surprised to see rivals or scout have us get jumped by USC or Fla. if they close out strong. They love those two programs and would rank them in the final top 5 if they only had 1 commit.

Brandon Newman said words very similar during one of his interviews. It appears now that georgia guy never gelled with the "family" based on comments by the other current commits.
