2009 OT performed well at BC

Earlier this summer rising junior offensive tackle Tim O'Brien made some noise on the recruiting scene, performing well at the National Underclassmen Combine as well as at a Boston College camp. O'Brien is transferring schools this fall and should get more exposure at his new school. A solid junior campaign would do wonders for his stock.

O'Brien had spent the last two years at Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick, and his team had even been riding a 37 game win streak. Nonetheless, he feels like the move to Kent, Connecticut will pay off in the long run.

"We had a big winning streak but we were going to be losing a lot," O'Brien said. "We lost our quarterback and some receivers and I don't think we were going to be too great.

"At the Kent School I think there will be more exposure and a better opportunity. They're in Division A and Brunswick was in Division B. They play in the Erickson League, which is one of the most competitive conferences in New England. I just think it will be a better place for me in the long run."

The 6-foot-5, 275 pound offensive tackle first started making a name for himself at the Underclassmen Combine but even moreso at a BC camp this summer.

"I feel like I did really good at BC," O'Brien said. "The coaches were great and the offensive line coach showed some interest in me. That was really nice. They had me playing with the seniors. I turned some heads and there were a lot of coaches there. Since then I've just been lifting and working out with my team."

O'Brien's experience at BC, as well as the academics and proximity of the school, will make the Eagles one of his favorites should they offer down the road. He's looking first and foremost for a good education and that's evident in the list of schools he's looking at.

"I'd say BC, Duke, Stanford, Virginia, North Carolina and Notre Dame are the schools I'm really hoping to hear from," O'Brien said. "Academics will be very important for me. I'll probably major in business or something like that."
