and if your puzzled of all my information this is one where i can send you something better than my word......

Joliet Catholic Academy (Ill.) has produced a number of football players for Notre Dame and linebacker Nick Clancy could be the next Hilltopper to don the blue and gold for the Irish. Clancy is interested in the Irish and he attended last weekend’s junior day.

Nick Clancy (6-foot-3, 213 pounds) attended Notre Dame football camp last summer in hopes that he would draw interest from the Irish coaching staff. It didn’t happen immediately, but the Irish are on him now.

“I think it was sometime in December that I got my first letter from Notre Dame,” Clancy said when asked about his recruitment. “I’m just hoping for some good things in the future. I’m just going to work my tail off and hopefully I’ll get to don the blue and gold."

While I love how he's all Irish, keep in mind that these are the type of guys that got Penn State into trouble in the late 90s.

Penn State basically offered anyone who said "I'm all PSU!", and their recruiting was usually done by the time the season started. They couldn't pursue the bigtime national recruits, and it lead to a lot of mediocre years for a program that had been a giant for decades.

They seemed to have learned their lesson and are starting to pull in the bigtime guys again (Derrick Williams, AJ Wallace, Justin King, etc.), and I hope ND looks carefully at these guys before offering them. It's great to lock up someone real early, but if we lock up 20 guys who don't have much room to grow into studs in college, what's the point?

Agreed.

He isn't as good as Filer or Simeon's Nate Palmer. ND's bridge might be burned with Simeon, so Palmer could end up leaning to Illinois.

Clancy is a very solid player in the mold of Chris Jeske (Northwestern) but there are better LB on the board for ND to pursue.

ND needs to re-establish themselves in the Chicagoland area. While ND has lost out on some good ones out of Joliet (Mike Alstott), they've also got some as well. I think Mike Goolsby was the most recent alum to choose ND.

Funny thing about Simeon is that Zook has not won with good players(Florida), but he will win at Illinios. What is his record so far as a headcoach. He talks a great game, but he doesn't back it up.

He's getting Big Ten, MAC and Ivy League attention.

EMU, Ball State and Vandy have offered.

Get in the mix, Northwestern!!!

If you were a coach at ND would you offer a kid like this who wants to play for ND so bad.

I wouldn't. There are a great many people out there that would love to play at Notre Dame, but with the scholarship limit you can only afford to take the very best if you want to hold elite status and contend for championships.

No, before he finally received the Purdue offer, he had offers only from Vanderbilt, Eastern Michigan, and Ball State, and he still seems to be interested only in ND & Illinois. Unfortunately, for Nick, his talent level no longer meets the ND sniff test.

Being that ND is about done at LB, Clancy is another odd man out.

This kid is doing all he can to get ND's attention. In the process, he is going to attract a lot of MAC and Big Ten schools.

Purdue, Air Force, Eastern Michigan, Vanderbilt and Ball State have already come through with offers.
