    Marcus Freeman Revisited

So we're supposed to believe the guy who went for it on 4th down on his own 35 is the same guy who insists on a conservative (to a fault) style of offense? I dunno, guys...

I mean anyone COULD join anyone, right? Is there any reason to think there's anything more than speculation behind this?

    Marcus Freeman Revisited

Agreed. But I don't believe he would attempt to impose his will over an OC with any credibility. A guy like Andy Ludwig wasn't about to come take offensive micro-management from a 1st time, defensive HC.

    Marcus Freeman Revisited

Precisely why elevating a (largely) inexperienced OC was the worst possible scenario last off-season. Sent from my Pixel 8 Pro using Tapatalk

Gerad Parker - Troy Head Coach :)

I'm hoping so. I think the offense needs a serious reset. Likely gonna lose DMC to opportunity. I'd be fine with replacing the rest. Sent from my Pixel 8 Pro using Tapatalk

For real. Let's not act like the school doesn't recruit itself at TE at this point.

    Marcus Freeman Revisited

Kirby wasn't hamstrung by his OC. We'd be saying Freeman took a huge step this season if not for Parker. Sent from my Pixel 8 Pro using Tapatalk

    Clemson post game

While I agree, some of his throws have been BAD. Like Pyne bad.

Gerad Parker - Troy Head Coach :)

I just don't think that dude gives a f**k right now. He has one foot out the door and the other worried about setting his kids up for life with bullshit UA and NBC contracts. I kind of hate that he'll likely be involved in this OC situation again before he exits.

Assuming a change at OC this off-season, any reason to be concerned about holding onto this one? I mean this will be the 3rd OC in as many years. Not the best look...

    Creativity vs Lots of Experience

Need an OC with enough experience that Freeman can just give him the keys to the offense so Freeman can focus on situational football, time management, etc. If need be, he can assist with an eventual younger DC. But on the OC side...has to be someone with virtual autonomy barring some high level...

    Creativity vs Lots of Experience

And yet the offense is dog shit, so does it even matter?

While that didn't help, let's not pretend Lenzy wasn't raw AF coming in. Literally a track star learning to play the position.

Gerad Parker - Troy Head Coach :)

There is no way in hell Freeman does not have the authority to make a change. I refuse to believe otherwise. EDIT: The real question, IMO, is whether or not he has the backing of his AD and admin to make the correct subsequent hire(s). Whether or not you believe Ludwig would have been the...

    Marcus Freeman Revisited

IMO, this is more an indictment on the school than the program or any individual coach. ND systematically limits its own ability to be successful. Even though the football program is the reason anyone even knows the school exists (sorry, don't mean to trigger the academics, but it's true). God...

    Marcus Freeman Revisited

It all comes down to the choice he made and will make at OC. With an experienced, quality OC, SO MANY of Freeman's warts could have been covered up. He needed a Golden on offense, pure and simple. Instead, for whatever reason, he went down the hall and elevated a guy who couldn't cut it at West...
