There is a very good mix of experience and talent on the defense. Even prior to Spring, I never understood why there was so much concern. Good coaches will develop that talent and lean on the experience when needed.

Golden was a solid first hire for Freeman. I don't think it was ever intended to be a long term marriage. In fact, I don't think a lot of the staff was ever intended to be. I would suspect that if we have the season most expect us to, the next challenge for Freeman will be to replace a lot...

There are a few recruitments that could benefit from winning on the field. This would be one. I think if Freeman and company can prove we are playing equal football to the OSU, Clemson, and USC's of the world. Then we might be able to shake things up towards the end of the cycle.

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I'm in a 100% agreement that it’s irrational. However, this is part of the crootin world. The perception that a 5 star from Chicago chose UM over ND, is a big deal on the beat. At least, it would undoubtedly get made out to be one. Is it really? Will it be on the field? I have my doubts.

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

Development and production being a separate conversation. He needs to develop his own Foskey. I think he's recruited some guys that can be. Now it's time for them to produce as such.

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

With or without Scott, this is a very good DL class. So, I don’t think we should question Washington in the slightest. But…you can’t lose him to Michigan. And, I don’t even know what that means. Just that my brain can’t grasp the possibility, lol.

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

From June 27th, 2022 to June 27th, 2023, we have added the below list of players to the 2023 roster that didn't previously have offers or were literally attending other schools. Antonio Carter JBP Sam Hartman Thomas Harper Devyn Ford Kaleb Smith (Jr.) Armel Mukam (247 93 rated 4 star, top 200...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

Just to re-iterate you are using the word remaining as if at this moment in the time the board will forever be frozen as is. We know this to not be true so I think it'd be wise to at least entertain the idea that even if we miss out on the current top targets, some others likely emerge. If...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

As far as the State of the Recruiting class goes. I would also just like to add that even if we were to miss on all major targets presently on the board, I would be very surprised if this staff is done recruiting for cycle. They're going to keep recruiting. Now could that mean they land...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I’m not sure he can either but I’m not sure he’ll have to. I think the roster sets up quite nicely for a very competitive team around him.

'24 IL DL Justin Scott (Miami [FL] Verbal)

As far as the future of the DL, success of the program, etc. I think the impact of this "5 star" is less than landing or not landing many other 5 star prospects over the years. It's free upside as we already have our NT. So, why not. However, this is not a litmus test for recruiting like a...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I actually disagree. This is just another excuse for the Freeman fanatics that we've accepted as reality. Players, including players on ND's present roster were either given money or propositioned for money during their recruitments from other schools. Players have been getting paid...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

I think the gap is closing. It was just never as big as folks wanted to make it, to begin with. The Freeman hype machine is real and likely will continue to be. It caused folks to get ahead of themselves with regards to the type of recruiting he was going to be doing or to lose sight of what...

I also think he's overrated but even if he's overrated that'd still be huge pickup. Stanford is doing quite well. Funny how that conversation started a few weeks back.

'24 AR LB Brian Huff (Missouri Verbal)

While I know some have expressed concern over LB recruiting sans possibly landing Shaw or KVA. However, in terms of the staff making a pivot, in-cycle. This is one where I’m glad they made the move to guys like Kahoun and Rezac early over settling for pushing for someone like Huff who was...

State of the Recruiting Class - 2024

Losing him to Michigan would be ass. Solely because it’s Michigan. Him taking the paycheck to get lost in Miami, whatever. Him turning down the NIL for Michigan? Now that would suck.
