I think at their best, this team can beat anyone. And they’ve shown that during stretches this season. That’s the frustrating part. I NEVER felt Kelly’s team could actually win a title.

I think that’s also why this board is so pissy, more so than Kelly’s close wins that were expected. 2024 + 2025 are the most talented ND squads since the early 90s and not that far from the top of the sport.

We also had this NC State offense in hell and held them to 7 points. Already 41 and 550 yards tn.

Worth noting the OL is now down 3 of the 5 projected starters in camp. Basically where we were last year.

This game was also a great example of how the clock rules (that were forced by the TV networks in order to fit in more commercials), really change the trajectory of a game when an underdog is able to hold onto the ball and eat clock.

We aren’t the only CFP team to play a close road game against a shitty opponent. Most of them have. No one will remember, especially since we won by 15. People will literally remember how sick that Jeremiyah Love touchdown run was more than how sloppy we played.

I just think you can’t discount the fact that BC’s QB played at a very high level for 3/4 of the game. Our game plan on D was to keep everything in front of us and force him to be accurate. He uncharacteristically was, until we decided to turn up the heat late.

Grayson James played out of his mind for 3 quarters which was the main reason this game was close. Plus JDs fumble. Sloppy, but it’s one game. If they struggle next week I’ll be more concerned.
