Suffer and defend for 70% of the match and rely on counterattack. This is the only way to play against the elite national teams like France, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, etc. USMNT are capable of playing a more balanced style against the 2nd tier teams in the 10-20 range, but against those true...

Guys like Johnny and Tillman are taking a bit of a gamble (at least as it pertains to the national team) with their transfers. On the other hand, guys like Musah and Reyna need to transfer to give themselves the best shot at playing in WC26.

Also Poch has made his stance pretty clear. He wants his guys playing significant minutes for their clubs.

Admittedly, it was an exaggeration. I fell in love with Reynas play 4 or 5 years ago but I'm at the point where he has to show it consistently before I'd trust him next year.

Not at this point. Reyna is basically Freddy Adu.

The biggest takeaways from the tournament for me. 1) Tillman is in the starting 11 (Reyna out) 2) Richards is a stud and a CB pairing with Ream looks nice 3) we need a healthy Jedi and Dest 4) I pray one of these #9 candidates has a breakout year for their respective clubs 5) Luna is first off...

Only 4 of these guys would start if the WC started tomorrow - Adams, Richards, Ream, and Tillman. Maybe Freese. So 2/3 of the starters are out of the lineup against basically Mexicos strongest lineup. This was a fine tournament and provided valuable information for Poch. This would have...

    Who's Next? - 2026 Edition

Freeman and company have gotten nearly everyone else they've wanted this cycle. It's not hard to believe they could flip a QB from Texas. Freeman has made ND cool again.

Best match of the tournament so far. Al Hilal has electric pace on the front line and great distribution on counters from midfielders/Neves.

Freese has been solid. I want to see how he handles a bit more pressure out of the back. Haiti, though lacking the skill, did pressure the back line more than the previous 2 opponents. I think Freese has been mostly good and I do think his foot skills are noticeably better than Turners.

While a bit contrived, I think the CWC is fun. Seeing teams from across the world square off is pretty exciting.

This same trash USMNT beat Morroco 3-0 in a friendly 6 months before 2022 WC. Morroco fired their coach and then went to the semis. A lot can change in a year.

I think you guys need to calm down a bit. Poch is taking inventory still. This is the C team. I'll reserve judgement on this squad until we see the A team in a competitive match.

Lol, yeah. After not getting birdie on 14 and 15, he started pressing and it backfired. He lost a chance to win the tournament on those 2 holes.

'23 MO RB Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame Signee)

This is a post that aged about as well as possible.

I'm sure it happens more than I realize but also notice nearly every offensive lineman is on the ground during that run. So it's JLove vs the entire defense, or so it seems.

I'm right in the thick of it too. I've been coaching my oldest son for the last 4 years and now my youngest. I'm as guilty as anyone but we parents of the last 2 generations have built this environment of tiered pay to play youth sports. We have nobody to blame but ourselves.
