For the record, this too is getting stopped, A LOT, in 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 situations. I continue to hate how we pack the box offensively (all 11 guys within 5 yards of the ball). Spread them out and then run the ball. Even on 3rd and 1 from the 3 yard line.

I’m not sure that’s true. There are endless cases of teams being ahead of a team they lost to earlier in the season. Heck, USC is ranked behind Meatchicken, who they just destroyed. When you lose and how you are perceived to be playing now matters just as much.
