I don't understand this. There's an argument for Miami. Alabama got blown out multiple times this year, once by a team that isn't even bowl eligible. If it's between these two teams, where's the debate?

If people believe that the conference's championship process is inadequate, then maybe the conference should fix that. Or maybe teams should choose not to be in megaconferences. I'm just against the idea of having your cake and eating it too. Not winning your conference has to mean something.

I don't just mean losing the championship game. I mean, if you choose to be in a conference, and you aren't the best team in that conference, then you definitely aren't the best team in the country and there's no reason to consider you for a playoff. No one's penalizing success.

There should be a rule that failing to win your conference championship means exclusion. Winning doesn't guarantee anything, but losing a conference championship guarantees that you're definitely not the best of your region, let alone the nation.

It seems like they're going about this the wrong way. I'd make a rule that excludes conference teams that fail to win their conference, because they have proven that they aren't the best team in their region, let alone the country. Keep it to 6 teams, no autobids.

Thank goodness they're saving a spot for a bad G5 team and five spots for the SEC.
