Taking guys who haven't been in a high-level college S&C program or practice since January (or Thanksgiving in this case) and trying to plug them into your team two weeks before the season starts is going to be rough for all involved, including other players on the team who they might displace. Almost by definition, these guys aren't THAT good, otherwise they'd be securely in the NF. And, yeah, if you think the school part matters, it also sort of makes a joke out of admissions.

That said, I'm sure other schools will take these guys Will be curious to see how they perform. It might be mid-season before some of them are fully up to speed.

I mean among the 15 or so that may be returning, they were playing in the NFL. Theyre certainly not out of shape.

This includes some of the players who ended up in the Louisiana lawsuit, which sources have pointed out wasn't tried in Baton Rouge by accident.”

He used up his eligibility. Appeared in every game we played for four consecutive seasons, which is impressive. Then sounds like he got injured before the draft (maybe at Pro Day itself?) and didn’t make an NFL camp.

He did nothing wrong here and it does feel like he’s getting jerked around.

Again, the conference rules yesterday didn’t change his eligibility to play.

There is nothing punishable about LSU signing Junior. The issue is players who signed NFL contracts.

It's also about players who declared for the draft, which some seniors do:

"During an in-person meeting with league presidents, chancellors and athletic directors, the SEC took it even further than the Big Ten, prohibiting anyone who has previously declared for professional basketball from rejoining college athletics without appropriately withdrawing."

All indication currently is assuming the TROs hold, guys like Junior, Castellanos, the two IU guys, Cole Hutson, Trent Hendricks etc will all be fine to play. I had this back and forth in the 5-for-5 thread:

He didn’t declare for the Draft, he had no eligibility remaining at the time. The declare thing is for someone like RJ Luis in basketball who forgoes eligibility and wants to return. Also LSU lol.

This was the genius of the Big Ten going first. Everyone thinks they passed something that they really didn’t in scope and get all the PR credit while undercutting a CFP contender (LSU)

No, but they were under the federal lawsuit for which the NCAA got a stay. So for now, they are not allowed to play (but can practice).

Guys like Tuihalamaka, were part of the state of Louisiana lawsuit, and ironically that state is one of the few left that the NCAA haven't been awarded a stay.

Because "declaring" is only for underclass or those with eligibility left. At the time, players like Tuihalamaka who were out of eligibility did not have to declare for the draft because they couldn't go back to college.

So bullet one is tricky wording to indicate those in the 22 class that thought they were out of college years, therefore didn't have to officially declare for the draft, are going to ultimately get to play college this year (assuming all the legal stuff works out). It's why, as of now Thomas Castallanos is going to be the Texas Tech QB.

TLDR version: those with no eligibility left don't officially declare, because they are assumed available for the draft

Let me rephrase, It will be discussed in a legal courtroom, but the intent of the SEC rules is absolutely clear... and again, does LSU want to take that chance?
