Nolan Nawrocki's Manti Te'o Comments

manti te'o and underachieving is like an oxymoron... he needs to work on his pass coverage a little bit, but Manti Te'o is lights out even with an injury.

I've worried about him a lot over the past two seasons.

He's the number 1 blocking mission on run plays. He's been rolled up!

He hyper-extended the **** out of his knee and still balled.

There are some delusional fans nowadays on IE.

Te'o is a great player, but as others have said:

-he is average (at best) in pass coverage
-he has yet to come up with those game-changing plays that the best players in the country on the best teams make every week

It's absolutely ridiculous to call people "delusional" because they have fact-based criticisms about a player's game. Go watch the USC game again if you don't think Te'o can improve by leaps and bounds this upcoming season.

I think people forget about the high ankle sprain he has played with most of last season. I can't imagine taking on 300lb linemen on a bad ankle. You can clearly see the difference in his play when healthy. I also notice over the last three years that he has become much more disciplined in his assignment. I'd love to see the big hits but I'm happy he covers his assignment very well. One of the best linebackers in the country is a great achievement imho.

I'm not worried about Teo. He was hurt most of the year and still was our best linebacker.

He's going to lead our defense to a lot of three and outs next year. He had some game changing blitzes this year hopefully Diaco will send him hunting more next year.

It's not just this past season. Manti has had difficulty handling the blocks of Offensive Linemen, ever since he got to South Bend. That's beeen my only knock on him. Other than that, I think he's been oustanding. As you put it: One of the best linebackers in the country.

But I think that NFL scouts will question whether or not they are taking a chance on him, if they take him in the 1st or 2nd round.

no, what I find funny is that we have so many people here who think they are football experts and breaking his game down as if they were professional scouts. Big plays is a matter of opportunity and perspective. Just because Manti Teo didnt stuff a runner on the 1yr line, knock the ball loose, and recover it for a TD doesnt mean he hasnt had impact plays. When Manti Teo is the LEADING TACKLER on a pretty stout defense while nursing an injury, it is simply FOOLISH to say he is underachieving. Plain and simple. Your idea of a big impact play seems to be clouded in order to try and prove your side of the argument. I seriously question some of the people who are dismissing Manti Teo and what games they have been watching. His presence was felt in every game he played this season and he was a finalist for the top LB in the country, gee, all those "football experts" who vote for the awards must not know as much as you guys seem to...

Manti Teo is our BEST defensive player on a VERY stout defensive, and that is not really arguable in my opinion, but i am sure someone will find something to pick on...

He was, do you think he was better than Manti?

I think he was better than Dubose. Watson was a beast inside. He didn't have the physical tools that Manti has, but I would say that his play was comparable to Manti's.
