Something about playing games on the west coast has been unkind to ND within the last week...

Guh, this is going to be such a long season.

The lack of experience is so evident on the defensive end . Just watch how many times a help side defender turns his back or gets cut across the face after a pass (I've noticed Grant does this a lot) or how long it takes our guards to recover from a ball screen or just end up in no mans land (hi to you Atkins).

We're young, and I look for good things in 2 years (maybe next year), but this is gonna be a long one.

Next year will be better and 2013 should be great. Adding Biedschied, Auguste, and Burgett in addition to Atkins, Grant and Connaughton will be really helpful. Recruiting class in 2013 looks strong as well, but it's too bad that we lost Katenda to that freak injury.

In other news, Scott Martin is painful to watch. Goodness.

No argument there. He's playing hard and trying to be a leader, but it's hard to be one when you're playing that bad.

And are we sure Atkins is going to be the answer at the point? He's really starting to worry me.

I think he is. In his role essentially as 6th man last year he lead the Big East in Assist/Turnover ratio for quite a while if I remember correctly. He's got a solid offensive game and is a good ball handler, just had a terrible night. He will show signs of brilliance this year.

Wow. I just watched the game on my DVR, and immediately wish I hadn't. That was ugly. Atkins just had a bad night, I think he'll rebound nicely. Grant looked decent, still love Connaughton, Cooley isn't a great center, but he hustles, and finally, Scott Martin is terrible. He didn't just have a bad game, he's just not good.

Absolutely a sickening game last night. I almost flew over for the game, but the kids had events last night. Being a Catholic I usually never root against Gonzaga--But, NOTRE DAME OVERRIDES ALL!!!!! And that was a super poor showing by the irish. The thing that bothered me is (yes I know we have lost basically all of our starters from last year --Ben, Tim, Nash, Carleton) that we ran a disfunctional offense. They looked sloppy and un-motivated. They were jogging down the court, standing up while playing defense, etc. Very poor for national TV.

Very disappointed. Now it is early and they can get it back, but watching Joey Brooks guard Elias Harris in the post???? What is going to happen to us in the Big East with doing that? Then Drag guarding the point???? Man we are going to get run if we don't fix some things. Anyhow, it most likely will get better Brey is a good coach.

Go Irish!
