Hey guys! I have been an avid reader of this board for two and half years and now I am starting to post a little bit. I just moved to Indianapolis from NJ for a job, and I was wondering how the ND following is in Indy. I've seen the city is mostly filled with Purdue and IU fans, but I have caught a glimpse of a couple domers here and there.

I'm hoping to catch John Turner and the Cathedral game downtown this weekend, anyone else?

Who lives in the area? Good restaurants? Bars? Things to do?

Welcome! What part of town are you in? We are definitely in the minority here. IU and PU fans definitely are the majority.

Iu and purdue get the bball attention, but definitely not a lot of football following. My favorite restaurant is scottys brewhouse. Seriously, give it a try. There will be a ton of excitement downtown for the next few months with the big ten Fb championship, big ten bball tourney, and then the super bowl! I like Indy, and best thing is that it's less than 3 hours from nd.

welcome to nap town, you'd be surprised how many ND alums live in Indy, especially on the north side of town. the ND following is pretty strong, you just wouldn't know it from the incredibly state school biased Indianapolis Star newspaper. Also, i would highly recommend going to the state championship game on saturday, should be fun to watch!

I used to travel to Indy 2 times a month and it is a great town. Go to the best Deli I have ever eaten in right downtown-I'm sure everyone in town knows its name. Best food I've ever had for lunch-dinner wont be necessary that night. Maybe someone on the site will give you the name as it slips my mind right now.

Ok here is my list of suggestions:

Brockway Pub (Carmel) -Irish bar with largest selection of Irish whiskey in the state

Scottys Brewhouse ( if you have kids they eat free in Tues and Suday)

Bazbeaux Pizza (3 locations)

Bubs Burgers (Carmel A and D District)

Cajun food - Yats (3 locations I think) and Mudbugs (Carmel)

Broad Ripple Bars:
Broad Ripple Brew Pub
Broad Ripple Tavern
Chumleys
Brugge ( brew their own beer)
Broad Ripple Bagel ( good hangover food)

If you are a soccer fan, Chatham Tap is a good place to catch a match

Steaks- St. Elmos (famous Indy restaurant) and Eddie Merlots (northside)

Lastly as IrishandColts mentioned, the Rathskeller is an excellent place to hang out. Awesome German food (Rathskeller Reuben is to die for) huge selection of German beer and the Biergarten where they play live music during the warmer months outside.

Congrats on your move. Indy is a great sports town-- Colts, triple-A baseball, Indy 500 time trials and race, and Notre Dame to your north. I'd trade LA for it if I had a chance.

Welcome to Indy! Hopefully you'll love the city as much as I do. Be sure to walk the canal and check out an Indians game as soon as possible (especially on dollar Mondays!). Sorry you caught the Colts at a bad time, but enjoy the city!

Broad Ripple is pretty awesome. Harry & Izzy's is another good restaurant downtown, and the Colts Grill downtown is a nice new place.
