would i take him...absolutley...he wins bottom line.

jury is still out on coach kelly. urban on the other hand proven winner.

we won't get a chance to have him though...he'll be in cbus in a couple of weeks...DD

He has had the chance to be the head coach at ND two times and passed up on both of them despite this being his self proclaimed "dream job".

Who cares about Meyer! He ain't ever coming to ND. He had his chances to come here and passed on them because he knows how hard it is to win in South Bend given how he coaches. He got an awesome stacked team in Florida and a program that was easy to recruit for. He will look for the same if he ever decides to come back. He's never coming here and I'm not sure ND would want him given how he ran his last program and the legal problems his kids seemed to constantly get in. And for those that think he's a great coach that can do no wrong on the field... the Gators last year were not a "well coached" team and look at how he left the program compared to how he got it.

Very well said.

He did it at Bowling Green before that. Meyer's record speaks for itself and I would absolutely trade Kelly for him today.

Bowling Green, really? You just dropped the Bowling Green card. You have got to be kidding me. How is that in the same universe as ND.

Yes his record speaks for itself. His player arrest record that is. Oh ya, he also left Florida in shambles.

I brought it up since you didn't think his Utah record was a good enough indication of being able to succeed without 5 star talent. That's all. Not trying to compare to ND.

everybody starts low on the totem pole...even kelly started at a D3 school...don't wrip meyer's success at BG or even utah...just a matter of 7 years ago we were begging for him to come to ND...don't let hard feelings take away the fact that he's a great coach and a winner.

i'm behind coach kelly and was the one i wantd all along, but urban is a great championship caliber coach.

I never said he wasnt. I wasnt ripping him for his work at BG or utah. I was just saying you cant take that and say it automatically translates to ND. Just like BK's success at Cincinnati translates either. But I am not ready to give up or make a trade like some others are.

i don't understand that argument? florida totally changed offensive schemes and coaching staffs...maybe you need to blame muschamp. perhaps he's not ready to be a head coach. plus remember who's calling the plays

Florida was pretty bad last year too. In fact they changed offenses that better suited their quarterback so if anything, the coaching change should have helped. But it didnt b/c Meyer left them in a bad situation.

Yes I do know who is calling the plays. The guy who led ND to some of the best offenses in school history, and the guy with multiple super bowl rings as an OC. Charlie has alot of issues as a coach, play calling is not one of them.

I've heard Urban is going to coach Penn St., Ohio St. and Texas simultaneously from his home studio, with a live audience and a Jumbotron.

Dude, seriously? How was Brady Quinn before Charlie got him? Look at the development of Clausen. Look at what he did with Matt Cassell. Then add what he did with Tom Brady and you'll have a guy who knows what he's doing with QBs. Shiiiiiiit, I can't believe an Irish fan actually said that bullcrap. Have you NOT been paying attention to football this past decade???

Eff it, let's do the bet. I say Meyer won't be coach by this time next week, and you say it's a done deal. We'll bet all your vbucks, plus the loser can't post for a week.

the original bet was he'll be the next coach...my prediction was by next monday. do we have to do the not post for a week? i guess if that's what you want, but that kinda jips me...eitherway he's gonna be the coach.

charlie always rubbed me the wrong way, so it's prolly unfair for me to say those things, but i never liked him much.

Don't waffle...you said it's a done deal. If I had 'inside sources' telling me it was a done deal like you claim to have, I'd make the bet in a heartbeart. You're all over this thread and even a recruit's thread saying it's a done deal and even who is going to be on the staff, repeatedly telling us to accept that it's a done deal. So put up or shut up. The bet is there. I'm the one with the most to lose, b/c I don't have any inside sources like you.

As for CW, it shouldn't matter if you like someone when assessing their performance. I hate Matt Leinart, but he was a fantastic college football player - HOFer in fact. Still can't stand him though.

NDinLA-- enough already and give rtrn2glory the pat on the back, handshake, hug from mom and dad, tail wag from the family dog, or whatever recognition and affirmation he's seeking.

Haha, you're delusional man. Maybe you end up being right. But saying that, you are only hearing what you want to hear.

Charlie Weis' own personal strength and conditioning coach?? Tim Tebow's QB coach? Travis Henry's family planning coach? Pacman's life coach?

Lindsay Lohans designated driver?
