Coming to South Bend for ND-BC

I have a couple questions. I've been to a few Notre Dame games but we've always drove up, walked around for a little while and went home after the game. Well I bought my mom tickets to the ND-BC game for her birthday.

Me, my gf, my friend and my mom are all coming Friday and leaving Sunday. I want to get the whole experience. I know one thing I want to do is watch the walk, can anyone help me. What time is that for a 4 o'clock game and where is it? Also, are there any other things you suggest we need to do before the game?

Lastly, we looked at places in South Bend but they are quite expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions of places to stay outside of South Bend? We are coming from Cincinnati so something before South Bend would be better than something past South Bend.

Any help would be much appreciated. GO IRISH!!

i also stay in Elkhart if/when Im coming into town from the East and don't want to pay the South Bend lodging prices. Inexpensive, right off the highway, and only 15 minutes from South Bend.

For the players walk, just hang out in front of the library/touchdown Jesus as their final straight away to the stadium is basically from the library into the stadium. The players walk is 1:45 for the BC game. You can find that, and some other scheduled events here.

Boston College // Events // Game Day // University of Notre Dame

Send me a pm if you want me to walk you through a nice little itinerary I go through every time I visit for a game to fit as much as possible into only a 2 day stay.

Been going for 20+ years and almost always stay in Elkhart. Decent hotels, much cheaper, and very close.

If you're coming from Cincy, odds are you'll be coming up 31 from Indianapolis. If so, Plymouth isn't a bad place to stay. The drive is a little further than Elkhart, but it's a pretty easy drive on game day.

Don't know if it's in T4H's itinerary or not, but if you've never been the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend is an easy stop; more importantly it is scheduled to leave for Atlanta next year, so it'll be the last time you can go easily...

I really want to go to that, I didn't know it was moving though. How long can we expect to go through that? That might not be a bad idea for Friday night.

Went their yesterday for the 1st time. It's pretty awesome. If you really take your time it takes a little while. I was there just under 2 hours and probably only saw about 70% of the stuff. It's a lot of fun.
If you're looking for a good restaurant go to Rocco's.No question.

Look for a place in Niles, MI. It's only 7 miles north of campus but the rates might be cheaper. On Friday, you should take one of the campus tours and go to the grotto and bookstore during the pep rally (ask any student that goes there or went there and they'll tell you to avoid the Irish Green pep rallies - trust me). On Saturday, pretty self-explanatory - wake up and tailgate! Have fun

Look for a place in Niles, MI. It's only 7 miles north of campus but the rates might be cheaper.

niles inn located 8 miles straight north of nd has prices around $60 for non game weekends. the rate is $100 for game weekends.

holiday inn express is going for $209-$249 for BC weekend.

DO NOT go to golden eagle. DO NOT got to stephans motel. DO NOT go to forlers motel. it will be a ton cheaper, but those places need to be torn down.

going a little further north to dowagiac michigan (adding maybe 20 min to your commute to south bend city). there is the castle inn. which could be affordable (cant find info online), its still a small town motel. pay for what you get.

there is a baymont in dowagiac as well. going for 84-89 per night for bc weekend. then up from there for the suites. there also isnt much of an up-charge just because its an nd weekend.

you can also look into the new buffalo or st. joe area. over by lake michigan. longer commute. more to do aside from just being at nd. prices may be a tad higher just because of being near the water.

Well we booked our hotel this evening. We are staying in Middlebury. A little further away than I wanted to be but it's a nice hotel and we got a good deal
