Article is from July 31st but basically says that 22 specifically chosen ND players will wear these new mouthguards that will allow data to be collected to help with research with head injuries.

Interestingly, or not, Notre Dame was at the forefront with introducing the use of mouth guards in college football.

A five-year clinical study on Notre Dame football players began in 1958 and was published in 1964. With the encouragement of then trainer Gene Paszkiet, a decision was made to equip the entire Notre Dame football team with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA - see below) mouthguards.
