Not sure if anyone here has read this book or currently in the process of reading, but I picked it up not too long ago and am amazed. If you like the history of our country(U.S.A.) and the founding fathers views on their creation of this country then this book is for you. I haven't been able to put it down, and it has brought light to me what the founding fathers were going for when they wrote some of the most famous documents, to their views on many different topics, and comparing that to how much different we are today. Just for anyone who enjoys reading I thought I would pass this along.

Book Title: A Miracle that Changed the World, The 5000 Year Leap, Principles of Freedom 101

A common misconception is that the "Founding Fathers" were in agreement about what this country should be and why, when in reality nothing could be further from the truth. They were certainly united in their desire to be free from the crown and to govern themselves, but everything beyond that was fought over for decades.

And the battles were very bitter amongst them.

My apologies, I threw it in to a big lump. This book does talk about the arguments they had and the differences they believed, but it breaks down what they were looking for and what ended up going on paper. The book doesn't try to make it seem like a wonderful sunday at grandma's, I just tried to shore up my writing.

I highly recommend that anyone that is interested in American history read about the lifelong relationship between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. They were friends, then allies and then bitter rivals until they both died July 4, 1826 - fifty years to the day after both men signed the Declaration of Independence.

They were two of the greatest and most influential Americans of their's or any other time - they helped shape this country both before the colonies declared independence from Britain (as allies) and as Presidents in the tumultuous days of our nation's infancy (as political enemies) - and had very different ideas about what this country should be.

Ha, yeah I know man. I'm sorry. I wasn't really responding to your post, just wanted to throw that out there. I frequently see people claim that "the Founding Fathers wanted this" and "the Founding Fathers would've been against that" without acknowledging the fact that those guys didn't share a brain, and if some of them wanted one thing, the rest of them probably wanted the other. With all the political talk going on around here tonight, this seemed like a decent time to throw that out there. Sorry about that. Actually, I'm familiar with the book. You'll enjoy it.

I have been really amazed by how much struggle happened, and what these guys went through to make this country the way it is. I have yet to see the showtime? special on John Adams or hbo? idk which it was, but anyway I have been enjoying.

Thanks for the suggestion on the book, sounds interesting. I've added to my B&N wish list.

No problem. Any ideas where I could find the series? Is it sold everywhere or just hbo.com?

I know if you have HBO GO you can watch it there, I'm guessing you could do HBO On Demand also.
