I know this board is prolly one of the last places to find comic fans but who else here likes comics? I used to love them and i still kept up with graphic novel for a long time but until DC rebooted 52 titles I couldnt keep up with them issue by issue due to me not being near a comic shop and when I would buy a comic I wouldnt understna dwhat was going on because I hadnt been reading the 5 previous issues. Anywho Im back into and they provide a pleasnt distraction from the bad things that are going on this year in the world of irish football (not to mention my fiance also loves them so its kinda cool) Any other fellow Irish fans comic book followers?

Ahem...

Ahem...

I was a card carrying member of the MMMS (Merry Marvel Marching Society) from back in the early 60's. You know back when Kennedy was prez. Ditko's Spiderman and Dr. Strange. Kirby's Capt. Americal and Thor. It was an amazing time. I got out of it when the mid 80's when it was taking half a paycheck to keep up. Still read the odd grapic novel "The Walking Dead" and Miller's take of Daredevil and Batman. Good clean fun. Too bad Hollywood tends to get more wrong than they get right when it comes to Superhero movies. The Green Lantern, The Spirit and Doc Savage were three of the worst. Don't know why The Phantom did so poorly.

I dug Green Lantern it wasnt the best but I felt that some of the negativity towards it was a bit unfair, like it was coming from people that wanted to bash it becaus they hated comic movies so they wanted to stop it from bneing successful. But it couldve been much better. Im currently reading JLA year one which is really a 12 month series comibnjed into a large graphic novel but i think its a fun read. I Just got the reboot of action comics in the mail and I cant wait to read it.

I used to dig comics when I was in high school. I read stuff like Area 88 and Green Arrow mostly. Kind of messed around with a comic called Boris the Bear, which was basically a bear that carried around an uzi and killed other cartoon characters. I haven't collected comics in years, but still think they are really cool and a great art form. Have a decent collection of stuff somewhere: Hulk vs. Wolverine, The Killing Joke and some others.

I have a modest collection. My favorites were always X-Men, but I also really like The Avengers, Spawn, Fantastic Four, and Hulk to name a few.

The new DC 52 is strange to me. I followed the story back in the 80's when DC destroyed their universe and reorganized their stories ("Crisis on Infinite Earths) and that was interesting, but I am not sure about just re-launching and re-inventing existing titles. I will pick some up and check it out just to see what is going on.

I collected from about 78 until 88.
Had every X-men, Amazing Spider-man, Avengers, Ironman, Fantasic Four, Captain America, Hulk, Daredevil, and anything drawn by John Byrne that came out in that time frame.

I've got them all in boxes up in the attic.
Bagged and boarded, but probably warped and ruined anyway.

I recently bought all the Ultimate Spiderman hardcover graphic novels for my son. I haven't read any of them yet though (if I ever get the time).
