I'm gonna start neg repping anyone who takes a shot at Kelly for his sideline demeanor. Have any of you every played a sport before?

I cannot agree more. Sick of hearing these thin skinned nancys who never played sports or were never held accountable for screwing up. Get over it, this is football, not syncronized swimming.

Yes, and if I were the coach, I would have been an absolute maniac on the sidelines during that game. I was a maniac at my house watching the game from 1,400 miles away. My family was in danger. I would have gone Bobby Knight on Jonas, Theo and Dane.

So, I agree, lay off of coach Kelly for his sideline demeanor.

Not just TJ's fault on the interception. Tommy should not throw to a WR that isn't looking but it falls on both.

What are you talking about? Receivera dont run and stare at the qb. They run a route and look when they should be getting the ball. Usually ball has already been thrown.

thought carlo and fox played very well ????

All I can remember is Carlo not turning on their TD (although it was a mismatch, and way worse that Gray didn't turn around the play before) and Fox getting blocked to smithereens early in the game.

TJ wasn't running a timing route.
On a 5 yard in he should have been looking as soon as he broke since he was the check down.
Coach said Tommy needs to hold if receiver isn't looking.

On the ear hole pass, I think Tommy might not have made the best read, so that's why he could share some of the blame.

#NotreDame Kelly's words to J. Gray: "How do you want to be remembered?" The guy who fumbles on the 1 yd. line or the guy who bounces back?

You can't simulate Robinson but they will use Hendrix and Golson to try and simulate him. Hendrix is more physical, Golson is more the run pass threat.

Either way no way for a qb to stop his throw because the receiver is not looking. Btw floyd was wide open on that play.

I just hope we don't give up the soft corners like we did against USF. Press, contain, make him throw a decent long ball.

Being at the game and having an understanding of the game, Floyd was open on about 80% of the plays. Daynes first INT and the earhole pass were 2 touchdowns he would have had. The DB's just had no chance to stop him. What I don't know is the order of reads. Might be why we didn't go to him often in the first half. It was painful to watch regardless.

Brian Kelly on Brady Hoke: "We've had similar paths to success. Now we're in the dream matchup of #Michigan vs. #NotreDame."

Actually...it was a scissors route. Ball is to be thrown after he crosses the outside backer on the opposite side. Go look again. That is why Floyd came open up top.

To reiterate... have you ever played a sport before?

You should watch your demeanor on this message board. Women and children could be reading. I'm scandalized by your angry emoticon.

I played organized football from the time I was 8 years old until my senior year of college. Does that count? After that I coached for several years and never once did I scream at a kid until I looked like my head was going to explode.

Atleast Kelly knows and shows no matter how much the players mess up it is still part of the coaches fault i like that. I think it takes some of the pressure off the kid that way.

Theres a different approach when you are coach kids or young teenagers. These kids are going to school for FREE. FREE means the are paying nothing. Most of the kids on the roster are this way. You are expected to be at your best all the time. Crist,Jonas,TJ,Reddick were not at all.

I just want a victory over Michigan and for Rees to play well so the concern over who starts is officially over.

I don't know. I played interhall football for Keenan Hall as an undergrad, which was definitely "organized football", but that doesn't mean my experience is comparable in any way to the ND football team.

After that I coached for several years and never once did I scream at a kid until I looked like my head was going to explode.

And you think this anecdotal evidence is meaningful? You've never coached at Kelly's level, and I doubt you've ever coached 18-23 year-old young men before (not kids).

You may disagree with it as a motivational tactic, but to claim that you're personally scandalized because ND's head football coach yelled at players who were embarrassing the university and fanbase with their lack of focus and discipline is absurd.

These aren't kids playing an after-school sport to build self-confidence and leadership skills. They're Division I scholarship athletes who play on national television every week. They're not only accountable to their teammates, coaches, and the university; they also bear the weight of a proud, storied tradition and the hopes of millions of Irish football fans.

They deserved to get yelled at.
