Surprised nobody posted this. Here's the little blurb on Manti:

No. 29: Notre Dame LB Manti Te'o
PARTICULARS: 6-2/255, Jr.; Honolulu Punahou
BUZZ: Te'o was the biggest reason for Notre Dame's dramatic defensive improvement during its late-season surge in 2010. He made 133 tackles, the highest single-season total by a Notre Dame player since Tony Furjanic (147) in 1983. His big season included a 21-tackle performance against Stanford, the most by any FBS player against a team from one of the Big Six conferences since North Carolina LB Durell Mapp made 23 tackles against N.C. State in 2007

I wouldn't say he was the biggest reason for the defense's great stretch. That would be he had to have had personal improvement and he simply didn't. He was too jumpy in the Purdue game and missed some tackles, but after that he was golden the rest of the season.

I'm not sure there is a biggest reason per se.

Remember the defensive collapse after an injured Te'o left the Sun Bowl? I do.

I still don't think he necessarily elevated his game, I think the entire team found some intestinal fortitude. I love Manti's game--who couldn't--but I simply don't think he became some super human (well, more of a super human) after the Tulsa loss.
