My personal experience:

GREAT fans: Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn

HORRIBLE fans: Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Cal, U$C

*I have come to the conclusion that the Big Ten houses the worst fans in terms of drunk, rowdy, a-holes that want to talk s--t and start fights all game long. They are the closest thing we have here in the states to soccer holligans IMO.

So you're saying you've never been to an Oakland Raiders game?

Plus, didn't TN pass a law that you can't say "Gay" anymore or something? Will I be arrested if I wear my Volunqueers tshirt there?

No...they just passed a law concerning discriminating against gays...basically it says that businesses here can discriminate them when applying for work.

btw guys...good news....i just got accepted to Miami University in Cincy...going up there to help take care of an ailing grandmother and finish up school....this also means i will be much closer to south bend...and can finally come up this season for my very first home Irish game!!!

My daughter attends the University of South Carolina, and I have to say their game day activities are a lot of fun. Surprisingly well mannered for the amount of alcohol consumed and the fact they were hosting Georgia. Let's just say tailgating there doesn't involve cooking.

As for a bad experience, and a bit of a surprise, was MSU. Surprised because the campus was beautiful (didn't expect that) and the fans were soo rude (didn't expect that either). If I had to hear how gay Brady Quinn was one more time...

As for OSU, I haven't been to a game there as the opponent, but just living here I know how fervent they are against ND even if you try to use a rational question or two (such as "What is it you don't like--the graduation rates, the academic standards, etc.?") yet it's a waste of breath.

It's in Oxford...not Cincinnati. :) Congratulations.

Duckie fans, and the Iowa fans we were subjected to at the Orange Bowl...disgusting, foul mouthed (even in front of ladies who were quiet and respectful) and physically threatening. Worst. Fans. Ever. After 40 years as a Trojan, and the fact we also have no qualms about traveling to play football, that is a significant statement.

No fanbase in the country is better than Nebraska...and it's not even close. Notre Dame fans (the true fans/alums) are also wonderful, what other rivals sit side by side for a fundraising luncheon to benefit both universities? I know of no other.

I have been treated extremely well every visit to South Bend (or the "Pilgrimage" as we call it), but your "subway" fans are just as horrid as our hated "Raider rejects".
