it just seems to me that the panthers are looking to cash in on the sec fan coming to see cam newton play. they are in the NFC south, which has teams in the heart of sec country.
cash grab all the way. you can't look me straight in the face and tell me cam newton was the best player in this draft. especially not the best player to fill carolina's needs.
if i were the HC i would have gone after one of the defensive studs, or a WR to fill smiths apparent void. qb situations can be patched via free agency and the 2 qb picks you brought in last year, not to mention matt moore. bring in a vet, and let the 4 of them duke it out.
now carolina will need to mold their offense to fit cams strengths and then what happens when he goes down with injury? you expect one of the pocket passers on your roster to come in and fill in without missing a beat?
i think this pick came from over riveras head because he doesnt seem like the type of guy to draft a flash in the pan qb 1st overall. then again i could very well eat my words when cam is killin it but i'll wait til that happens.
