To Irish Moore: if he gave all the extra money to his assistants, then "good on him" and standing applause.

As far as your having the worst record in Notre Dame history, well, not quite. It pains me to say that my class endured the first losing four years in ND football [record 18-22] and the class following mine was the worst entirely [14-25]. As BB King would say: "Baby I've REALLY paid my dues".

You're totally right about the defensive recruiting and coaching, but when I say soft, I'm talking about the fact that he stopped chewing out his players like he did in his first two years (As seen in the video). He got really soft in approach and demeanor of interacting with his players, kinda buddy buddy with them. The fact that we never had a running game speaks volumes about how soft he was. A team generally takes on the personality of its coach. We never had tough guys in the trenches who punched people in the mouth because Weis simply failed to develop that in them.

Our team looked soft most of the time. We didn't see the team ever stomp on anyone. It was more like us getting punched in the mouth and then reacting by folding up like a beach chair. At times, we shamefully looked like garbage. And that's on the coach.

Absolutely agree with you here. Ultimately it does fall on the head coach, but Mendoza and Latina are to blame as well. My dislike for both of those individuals is well documented on here, but it is not unfounded. Mendoza and Latina took an amazing physical specimen like Sam Young and robbed him of being a first round draft choice and a possible Outland award winner.

Our team looked soft and weak very often. I used to watch film of Irish teams in the 80's and early 90's compared to the early 2000's and I would just weep. Back in the day, our lines used to just plow the field on other team. Our team with Young et al looked like they couldn't push their way through a brown paper sack.

I was one of the first, if not the first, to call for his firing. For no other reason than he was just not head coach material. There was no improvement coming on the defense and with Comedy Hour that was our DCs, it wasn't going to come.

Charlie Weis is a great guy. He is an offensive genius. One hell of a charitable fellow. A dedicated family man. An ND Alum who would die for this school. Just not a head coach.
Florida is going to be crazy good once he gets his teeth in there. Muschamp defense with Weis offence? God help us all.

My exact words the day of his hiring at UF

Mike, as much as I appreciate your reassurance that my class even loses at losing... we are indeed the losingest class. Class of 2011 has the record 22-26, one more loss than the class that followed you. Of course, Brian Kelly's losses are included in that, but I am relegated to believe if Weis had stayed, the record would have been broken regardless. BK in one year has more wins in a season than Weis did during my time at Notre Dame, so I'm not exactly mad at BK. It's mostly Weis' fault.

Ah...total losses...not losing percentage. Yep, you're right about that. Still my bunch had less percentage moments to feel good, so I still consider that "losingest".

Who is this Weis guy we speak of? The only "weis" guy I know lives down the street and owns his own "construction" company.

IrishMoore1 and Old Man Mike: This is not meant to be critical or insulting in any way, but it is kind of funny to watch the two of you argue about who holds the honor of biggest loser.

Believe me, I'd rather not be in that race at all.

and I didn't lose any of those games myself --- yelled myself hoarse at every one.
