We ended the regular season #1. But after the bowl season, we ended #4, according to B&G. Here is this year’s top 10:

1. Texas A&M 88-47 — .6518
2. Arkansas 85-48 — .6390
3. Auburn 90-51 — .6382
4. Notre Dame 90-53 — .6293
5. LSU 82-49 — .6259
6. South Carolina 90-55 — .6206
7. Minnesota 75-48 — .6097
8. Iowa State 76-49 — .6080
9. Missouri 82-53 — .6074
10. Oregon State 79-52 — .6030

According to B&G, this year was distinctly the 11th occasion since 1977, when the NCAA initially began keeping track of the most complicated schedules, the Irish ended in the top 5 in that group. Notre Dame had the No. 1 ranking five eras: 1978, 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1995. The only other university with more than three is Florida (1986, 1996, 2000 and 2006) with four.

Pretty impressive folks...

great post, I hope someone makes this permanent, or makes an area with data to clobber the most common attacks on the ND program...

the "weak schedule" one makes me nuts, would be nice to just drop that on the conference elitests who think they have "murderer's row" because they are in a conference...WHATEVER!

Thank you for taking what I have always most adamantly believed and putting it in numbers. Whether it's that first week of the year where every good team is playing Northwest Middle Arkansas St. Tech A&M or people saying that ND has a weak one, SOS can drive me NUTS! :upset:

This may be one of our number argument centerpieces during this offseason. Use it for a Bama fan, or any Floridian not in favor of the Dome.

But certainly keep it in your back pocket for use later, in a proverbial sense.

Going in, next years schedule is going to be along the same level. More than likely will end in the top ten for SOS. Thats given the teams fair next year how they did this year of course.
