They couldn't just leave it at a good win for the Irish - had to slip in at the end that "the Irish have now won just 2 of their last 11 bowl games".
Did like the comment about H Smith being Harris' favorite receiver...

I in no way mean this towards you..... who gives a $hit????!!!!! We won and we won against the "EW"..... We won 33-17..... not many on ESPCRAP gave us a chance but a couple and one of those was Coach Holtz...... F.U.C.)< 'em

btw..... Happy New Year trips!!!!

You all are right - I should really focus on the positives. How's this:
No turnovers, only 3 penalties, great play in every facet of the game!

What other football team in the country would have an analysis that includes the fact that they have won 2 bowl games in a row? None.

We are sensitive because we've been a joke for 15 years. Hopefully the joke is over.

He also blamed it on Miami not getting it done. Well, Mark ,that would be because the better team outplayed them. He did say a thing or to positive, but how can he not without looking like a total fool.

We got lucky. If Harris didnt throw the ball to us 15 times they would have won 33-17...........KIDDING you guys. It was a good win. My new years resolution is to focus more on the positive than negative. We just kicked the candy canes arses. HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

I didn't see anything wrong with the article. If anything maybe we as a fan base have become overly defensive throughout the years of mediocrity.

I mean... Miami did shoot themselves in the foot. They looked sloppy, undisciplined and unfocused in the first half. ND has won 2 of their last 11 tries at a bowl game. Also, 2 of their last 2.

It's a huge credit to our guys that they came out motivated and didn't let Miami's attitude or the weather or anything affect their play. ESPN better get good at finding minor faults with the Irish, because it's only going to get harder from here.

Amen

Amen

It seems some are not happy unless they are complaining about how someone said something negative about ND. Can't they just enjoy the big win?
I seriously think fans are too sensitive. Its like they look for a reason to complain about the media.

I know! And can you believe what those bastards said this morning after their highlights? Those a*holes had the nerve to say that ND has now won 2 bowl games in a row and Miami had lost 3 in a row! How dare they!?! They didn't even say that we blew both teams out! They hate ND!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, I'm with jasonh on this one as well...sometimes as fans we LOOK for slights even when they aren't there.

All true and to the point-BUT they will have to get used to Notre Dame as a game, improved, football team that is going to win games under this guy. IrishinSyria is right it will get tougher but I like Notre Dame's chances from here on out under this coach. espn (notice small caps) has an agenda and this will never change unless Notre Dame changes it by winning football games. Irrelavant chatter by the espn monopoly.

ND and Jay are right... but it's hard not to look for it when it's been pretty obvious for four-five years or more that ESPN has had an agenda...

I saw one highlight reel from ESPN since the game and yeah, they highlighted some pick that wasn't called on the first TD... they highlighted Miami giving the game away... and the tone was def. "ND got away with one against a superior team" and yeah, they do that with other teams......... sometimes... but plenty of teams in a number of sports have had worse runs in the past 15 years and have not had the vast majority covereage like that which they tend to give us... and in a sport that depends heavily on what 17-18 years old think about your program all of that matters.

I just caught a whiff you feel ESPN may be marketing against ND for recruiting purposes elsewhere?

Excellent hypothesis.

So who are they in bed with besides the devil, the SEC, and Saddam Hussein?

(I recall the Pete Carroll and ESPN romance...)

lol... I guess you could have gotten that from my wording... but I'd say it's fair to say they have been less than for some time... that was my overall point.

ESPN overdramatizing, what else is new?

Just wait until we win a meaningful bowl, they are going to dig into the prehistoric archives.

I agree with you on that... Here's the thing, regardless what one reports and what type of reporting you do, I thought a reporters creed was to be non-biased on all reporting. Now, this is not to say they cannot be opinionated, there is a HUGE difference in being biased and having an opinion....

and don't get me wrong, I really think the whole show between Coach Holtz and Mark May is more for show although Coach Holtz is always loving on ND and SC....

disagree with you on that one Brother, yesterday WAS meaningful... potential recruits are looking at that bowl... I know where you're getting at but, yesterday's win was huge in my opinion.

While We did play well, part of the reason it was so easy was because Miami, Harris especially, looked like they would rather be in there hotel with the heat turned up. ND took advantage of this which is something we haven't done in the past. We did our part, but they didn't challenge us too much.

One of the reasons I read from this site is the right on knowledge of most of the guys and the tip of the hats to other good teams while being Irish. With that said the way Notre Dame is presented by the sports media sucks and I would like comment on my view. I may be wrong. Was it just me who thought Gary Danielson grudgingly gave props to Notre Dame while saying Harrison Smith was luckey and Miami was playing dead. Was it just me who thought the CBS crew just paid little attention to a nice win and 4 good wins in a row. Of course this team is still short on across the board talent-the culture at the school is different than other places- its still college not a semi football pro team. But the issue for me is how grudgingly they give the Irish a few nods of the head. What are they afraid of-let me tell you, they are afraid of a school doing it right with the largest national following in the history of college football getting up from the scrap heap and horning in on their lucritive college football scam. They are afraid of Notre Dame tapping into its vibrant past with the ability to acquire the talent needed to become a dominant team again. I dont know if Kelly can do it but this team under Kelly will make noise on the national level. When that happens be prepared for all the ploys to belittle and dampen Notre Dame's success. They dont want Notre Dame on a roll out there calling its own shots. To put it in plain words they are afraid of Notre Dame. If I were in their position I would be afraid too because it looks like Notre Dame may be back to competing for BCS bowls and maybe just maybe a shot at the title in a few years. I think they're afraid of Notre Dame success. It makes their @$$#$ squirm just a little in their seats.

I wonder whether the announcers are assigned to the bowl games before the teams are selected - 'cause I'm not surprised that Pur-doogie Danielson had a tough time being objective about the Irish. If I have my dates right, he didn't do so well against ND...
