ive been involved to some degree in assisting in investigations in the past. discrepencies in accounts of what happened would not delay an accused in such a case from being located and interviewed. no matter what the accused is stating or what discrepancies existed, the investigators need the account of the accused. knowing several investigators, they agree that by sept 5, the accused should have already been located and interviewed.

some have said the case may have not had enough priority for that to have happened. really? what would the nd police have been investigating that was of higher priority?

Jenkins, of course, isnt going to say this was all handled in a less than competent fashion. His reasons for the delay arent very credible.

I am NOT saying there was some type of cover up or anything of the sort. im just saying there was some lack of urgency as well as competence that looks bad and gives ND haters ammunition.

I don't doubt there was some "dragging of the feet" which can most likely be attributed to some prejudgment as to the severity of the offense.

Still doesn't make ND responsible for this girls death as the anti-ND faction would have you believe. Still doesn't make the accused guilty.

From what I've read I don't think she name the accused player till Sept 6th in her written statement. I think media reports have been conveniently leaving that point out of the timeline to add an extra week to the "cover up". She told people at St. Mary's and they went to Memorial Hospital but I have read in a few reports that after the players friend sent her the "threatening" texts she then e-mailed ND police a link to the players profile on UND.com under the title assault suspect (or something to that effect). So why would she do that if she had just reported him to police a few days before? I still think the 15th was a long time to not interview the player but I don't think the timeline reported in the media has been completely accurate.

it was reported to university police on sept. 1. the player was named in the complaint. the prosecutors office has already confirmed this. (even if it was sept 6, normal procedures would dictate finding and interviewing the accuse within a few days). there is no excuse that legitimately flies for why it was sept 15 before the player was located and interviewed except 1) incompetence and/or lack of urgency or 2) (for the conspiracy theorists) a cover up.

when its ND, where football is king and a player is the accused, and the investigation is handled with such sloppiness and incompetence, it looks bad no matter whether there was intent to protect anyone or not.

Jenkins should either shut up or just admit the police did a poor job in this case and say "we will do better next time."
