My sincerest, abject, and heartfelt apologies to those of you who were annoyed by my Southern Cal-Green Jersey thread. Guess that wasn't a good topic for my first thread. Not really an attempt to open that argument again, just taking the opportunity to describe how I really feel about that worthless program.

So, my second thread is an apology. I guess until I have a thousand posts or more, I will limit myself to responding to the threads that other, more experienced, and wiser members decide is worthy of conversation.

Again, sorry.

Oh, and didn't know where to put this, so please close this mods. Don't want to take up any more valuable space.

It's not that you can't start threads, but the one you started could've easily went into the "Green Jersey..." thread that's already active. I could even change the thread title.

And you were being sarcastic about not taking up any more valuable space, but we do our best keep the site organized so it's easier to work around the site. Nothing like clicking on the site and seeing 5 different topics on the same subject.

So please keep making new threads. Just make sure it's new:wink:

Happy Thanksgiving!

First, on my first post, some claimed reading it would give them genital warts, so you are way ahead of the game.

Second, Johnnykillz is onto something. (Johnny is that guy in that commercial, what you call it, the most interesting man in the world,) but what ND needs right now is tough fans as well as tough players. If you are real Irish, you won’t apologize to anyone, just smile, say thanks, and spit in their eye! (The results of your endeavors should become almost immediately clear.)

Third, work more humor into it, like how low is SCum? Besides, how are you going to become good at posting if you don’t? AND, there are plenty of Trolls, half-wits, no-wits at all or otherwise deviant critters lurking around here, Right Guys? (We tried to limit the sight to good looking, genius, Irish fans that were always right, but guess what? We always agreed. All the time. What fun is that? I mean phGreek, OMMike, dshans, Johnny, Bó fianna, and the rest of us.

You could talk about the necessity of having really sharp away green jerseys.

AND, ANYONE THAT LIKES THE REAL DEAL LIKE ON “ONE SCOTCH, ONE BOURBON, ONE BEER” has one hell of a lot to contribute!!!!! Which is your favorite artist’s rendition? Geo Thorogood, Johnny Lee Hooker, or might it be, (possibly) Amos Milburn?

Absolutely Amos Milburn. Whenever I retreat into "MyWorld" for a night of serious drinking, always start the session with the Chickenshacker's version of this song. Just sets the tone for a fun, mellow, and relaxing time with no serious BS to screw it up.

I have both the John Lee Hooker and George Thorogood versions of this song. Hooker delivers the Blues. Thorogood adds a rock and roll dynamic without screwing up the Blues roots.

I know nothing of this Amos Milburn. Or Chickenshacker for that matter. Would YouTube enlighten me?

Amos Milburn and the Chickenshackers did the "original" of the song. It's really kind of mellow, with a great piano backbone, and an overlay of simple guitar. Hooker made it his own, and kind of "rocked it up." Thorogood really rocked it up, and made a medly out of this and another Hooker song, the name I can't recall at the moment, something like "Landlady blues" or something. Don't know if you can find anything on YouTube, but if you do a google search for Amos Milburn and "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer" you can probably find an audio clip pretty easily. "One more nip and make it strong, gonna find my baby if it takes all night long. . ."

Thanks! Time to put the pixel power of the internet, in conjunction with the CPU, to work. I'm a huge fan of Delta Blues and early Chicago Blues.

Dude,

This is a whole genre of music betwixt and between. Hoy hoy to the roots of rock and roll. These guys still recorded on 78's in a 45's world. (That's the only reason I can think of that they got so little attention.) And they are great!

Amos Milburn
Chicken Shack Boogie - Down The Road ... - 2:48
One Scotch, One Bourbon ... - Down The Road... - 3:05
Down The Road Apiece - Down The Road ... - 2:58
Bad Bad Whiskey - Down The Road Apiece ... - 2:30

Tell me this isn’t the first real Rock and Roll tune!
