The NY Daily News of all sites has put up a great article on the storied history of Notre Dame and Army's rivalry, looking at some of the key games in the Big Apple.

I know it's just football, and I know it's Notre Dame v. Army and it doesn't mean much these last 20 years, but I feel this game has the significance of the game in 1913 when we first started scheduling nationally. It sounds so crazy, but just think, this victory for us, will qualify us for a bowl game, which in turn could give our team a boost going into USC next week, then to beat USC after all these years of losing to them. We can make the turn and head back up the ladder. The tides on it's way in from the ocean fellas, and I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

What you are saying really isn't all that crazy. This is a HUGE game for us. At the beginning of the year I would not have said so, but this is a pivotal game for us. A win today would like you said make us bowl eligible and give us some confidence and momentum heading into next weekend in LA. Today is also a huge game because of all the recruits that will be in attendance and there are a few of them we want/need badly. Can't wait for this game tonight..., should be fun!! GO IRISH!!
