They are releasing no details about the ongoing investigation: who is assigned to it, what investigators are examining, how long the task might take or how the results will be released.

Jenkins also announced former University of Arizona President Peter Likins, who has training as an engineer, will provide an external review of Notre Dame's investigation into the accident. It is not clear whether Likins will provide oversight as the investigation proceeds or review it after the facts are gathered.

i get not releasing specific results, but normally during an investigation you would at least learn who is doing it, what they are examining, how long its expected to take, etc....nice tranparency from ND.

also, if Likens only reviews how the investigation was done after the facts are gathered, i dont see how that lends any objectivity to the fact gathering itself.

finally, and this should bother everyone.........

The Notre Dame football team resumed practicing on the outdoor fields last Monday with no scissor lifts in use. Videographers have been taping from the field's permanent towers.


are you f***ing kidding me? they have permanent towers and the choice was still made to have viseographers in the scissor lifts on that day??

it is stunning that you would even bother to click on the link since it is clear from the title what its about. thats like a person with asthma walking into a bar where they know smoking is allowed and complaining about all the smoke.

i guess any thread started that deals with any event that cant be changed by anything anybody says should be closed.


personally, i found it incredible to learn ND has permanent towers for its videographers.

wow. please tell me you two are not ND grads with your apparant inability to read and/or comprehend what the thread is about.

either that or you just get satisfaction complaing about a subject that rubs you the wrong way rather than avoiding it altogether.

let me help out anyone else who wants to complain about the subject matter....the sequence goes like this....+2, +3, +4, +5, and so on....hope this helps.

Well the fact of the matter is that your thread contains nothing ground breaking. You've simply rehashed what we've known all along. Simply because it's news to you that there are permanent towers does not mean that is the case for everyone. Most of us have known that since before the incident. There are a million threads about this already where your comments and link could be placed.

must have missed it. in fact, i rmember in several threads people asking why they didnt have permanent towers. nobody knew the answer, which is amazing since according to you, most of the people on here knew it.

people have also babbled in other threads about how ND would be transparent in how they conducted the investigation...this is not the case.

others on these forums have erroneously stated that ND brought in an outside entity to coduct their own independent investigation, thus showing how impartial the investigation would be....this is not the case.

ND should have been more forthcoming by now. Father Jenkins saying "we take responsibility for Declans death doesnt wash" if you ultimately do not hold anyone responsible.

we shall see.

It's not like they said, hey it's really windy today, screw the permanent towers we'll just use the scissor lift for fun! No, they, like most college football teams, use permanent towers and scissor lifts as part of their daily routine. This is because they want more views than they have towers. Should the scissor lift have been operated on that particular day? Obviously not. But nobody thought of it.

Let me ask you this, would it change anything if they didn't have permanent towers? If the choice had been risking a kid's life or getting no footage at all, would that have been a different decision morally or legally? Of course not. Nobody sent Declan up in that lift, and nobody foresaw what would happen. The presence of permanent towers has nothing to do with that tragic lack of foresight.

All ND fans were greatly affected by what happened but out of respect for the memory of Declan and for his family we should let the process run its course. It seems to me that all you are doing right now is pulling on an emotional chord to get a reaction. Once you have the facts about how the investigation was handled... then by all means complain as much as you want if you don't agree with the process that was chosen by the administration. Up to now, the only thing we know for sure is that the administration seems to have handled a difficult situation with a great deal of class and respect. I will continue to believe, until proven otherwise, that they will continue to do the right thing...

and no, im not looking for an emotional response. im angry that people were so careless as to have cost someone their life, so i guess im posting because i cant go slap BK upside his head and anyone else who "didnt think of it."
