"...it's my birthday too!"

Well, we just finished celebrating my birthday and my wife gave me one of the best presents I could have ever hoped for - tickets to ND vs Tulsa next weekend! GO IRISH!!! is comin' to South Bend baby!!! Oh man am I stoked!!! I already have the best wife ever, but this just seals it!

We fly out from OC to South Bend on Friday. She even called my boss without me knowing and arranged for the time off. I can't freakin' wait. I haven't been to a game in South Bend since about '93 or so. Can't remember exactly. And when I did come out for games, I was just a stupid college kid so all I cared about was partying. Never did the midnight drums or the player walk or anything like that. So Saturday, I'm doin' it all. Might even try to take in the ND vs. Western Michigan hockey game on Friday night.

I am beyond excited for this. My wife has never been, so it is especially nice to be able to expose her to all that ND has to offer. Should be an amazing experience!

Maybe I'll even get to see some of my I.E. brethren!

Let's go Irish! Beat the Middies tomorrow and then BRING ON TULSA next weekend!

Happy Birthday and safe travels next week. Get a K of C steak sandwich as a warm up on the way to the tailgate and root the Irish home with a win! I would definitely catch the hockey game if you can Friday. Even when they were on the skids last year - lots of energy in the Fieldhouse.

Wow that is awesome, you do have a great wife.

Wish i could be there because my family has a big tailgate out there everytime.

Have fun and enjoy all the wonderful aspects of Notre Dame that you wouldn't normally as a college kid.

Congrats my man! I am yet to ever make it to a game South Bend or not. I must admit I am still just a young lad in SW Missouri but I am newly married. I am hoping my wife will come through with something this awesome for me in the future. Great news bud have a great time! I.E. family should be strong out there. Let us all know how your experience goes!!

P.S. Tell your wife I am always willing to accept a ticket or 2 if she is feeling giving ... after all the holidays are close upon us lol

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I am very blessed to have such a thoughtful and loving wife.

I am so excited for this trip. I think it is going to be magical. Weather looks like it is going to cooperate too. Partly cloudy with a high of 60 on Saturday as of today's report.

Now if the Irish can just come out with some fire and get a big win!!!

For our wedding aniversary, my wife got us tickets to the Pitt game and lodging near South Bend. We had a wonderful weekend as always. We try to go to one game a year. It's nice to drive up Friday,go to the pep rally, spend all day Saturday on the campus and then attend Mass Sunday morning before driving home. Let's hope the Irish can bring you a WIN this weekend!

Oh man I am soooooo disappointed! Our seats were down at the south end zone directly up from where the incomprehensible happened on the last ND play. I was in a dream world - I thought I was going to be right down by the goal posts as I watched Ruffer kick the winning field goal. When I saw Rees roll and throw that ball, I almost puked! What the F? Really? That did not just happen!!! Anyhow, I won't go in to everything because I am sure it has already been said.

I did think there was going to be a brawl when the frickin' Tulsa band started playing during the ND alma mater. Totally classless. They are lucky they were at ND and not some other school where that level of decorum would not have been shown.

Overall, it was a magical weekend. We saw the midnight drummers circle of Friday. Got on campus first thing Saturday. We were right next to the door as the players walked in to mass. I always knew about the walk from mass to the stadium, but I never knew you could see them walking in to mass as well. We were right there as they all filed by. Great experience.

We had an K of C steak sandwich. Awesome! Did some damage at the bookstore and then, on NDinL.A.'s suggestion, went to Legends for some drinks. The whole weekend was magical. My wife finally was able to see firsthand why that place is so special. She loved the grotto and the basilica. The campus was electric despite the somber mood from the week's tragedy. The Fall weather was perfect college football weather. She had her first Superdawg in Chicago. Saw the leaves in full change (something we don't get in SoCal) and experienced true Midwest hospitality.

We had a great time, but I just wish they would have KICKED THE DAMN FOOTBALL!!!

You know what's weird? You have an "N" and "D" and an "O" - then all you have to do is flip the "W" upside down and it still spells NDOM! Weird, I tell ya! Freakin' me out a little...wait, what was I talking about?
