I agree. Oregon State is a GIANT killer. But I believe Oregon is a well oiled machine. They went down by 12 points on the road and ended up still winning 53-32. It could happen but I doubt it this year.

Well, of all the Kelly's coaching college football Oregon definitely has the best. LOL!

He might be in over his head.

very possible - during the post game interview by Alex Flanagan, i thought BK looked like a 'Neutered in the headlights'. He seemed to hoping that Alex wasnt going to ask any question he didnt want to hear or have to try to come up with a PC answer. He was tring to give answers, but im not sure even he believed what he was saying.

With the injuries, mounting losses, the film tragedy, overall pressure to win - he seemed to be about to burst at the seems to me.

He's not at GVS anymore, Toto

The " get use to it" comment by Kelly is the last straw for me. The arrogance of that statement shows us a side of Kelly which was not so obvious at his hiring. As I said before, ND is the only div. 1 team that has not shown some improvement since the season started. WHY? Incompetence on the part of the coach and his assistants (interns). The AD should seriously consider firing him at the end of the season or as a minimum. let him know the alumni which is a major source of funding for the University will not tolerate his berating us and he better get off his arrogant demeanor or he will be fired at the end of 2011. Set the stage now for standard he must achieve or be fired for not doing his job. Lets not repeat the charade we played with Charlie Weiss that costs us a bundle to correct.

When they got the first down at the end of the game and Mayock was calculating the length of the field goal that was sure to follow, I figured the only way they could lose was if we committed two consecutive penalties for 10 or 15 yards each. Then I saw the pass into the end zone and I realized I had failed to consider another scenario.

why do we continue to throw the ball so much, especially with a freshman in his first game...... correct me if i'm wrong, but i think we have a decent run game when we stick with it (which has hardly ever happened this season)..... i don't care what kind of offense you run, you must have some sort of balance to keep the defense honest ................. also, im sick of watching these dumb *** coaching decisions made by kelly....... he said they were "being aggressive"................why?????? why are you being aggressive when you have a chip shot field goal with a guy who is PERFECT

HAHAHA...........must be nice to jump ship on ND because you're tired of watching them lose so you jump on another bandwagon!!!!!!!!

You were always one of the most passionate posters against Weis & co. Where did the passion go? Now all you do is beat down everyone else for showing a little optimism or hope for the future? I bet you don't even wear your ND gear or tell people you're an ND fan anymore. Sad bro......

You're right. Because I'm ashamed and humiliated and embarrased to be a fan of theirs. Theres no more hope left. So I started rooting for my 1st favorite team which happens to be Oregon. In one of my threads I have said before that Oregon was my team from the get go. I have family ties to the university so I have cheered for Oregon since I was 7 and that was before I became a ND fan. So yeah I gave up on ND. So what?

you don't even deserve to be considered an ex-fan. Just go away dude and post away on your "1st" team fan pages...the Ducks. why are you still here? to troll? or because you want to give real fans a hard time because your team is so great? Or because you will change your avatar to ND when the team wins enough games for you?

patience he knows what he is doing

I have been the most high on Kelly out of anyone I know. But now I am starting to worry, I mean I don't see a single thing, not one thing, that has lead me to believe that he knows what he is doing as you say since game one. I have seen evidence to more of the opposite, he certainly seems to not be doing a great job of motivating the players that's for sure.

YOu must not have watched much when Wood is in the game. He has horrible vision and can't break any tackles. It is cool if you are fast but thats all he has.

Out of patience

Out of patience

I know this has been said before, but I had to get in my 2 cents.

1. You can't win unless you "RUN THE BALL".

2. You can't win unless you "STOP THE RUN"

3. You need mental toughness to go along with physical toughness. I don't see either out of most of the players. There are a few exceptions; T'eo, you name the rest.

4. You need "GOOD COACHING." I haven't seen it yet.

5. I personally think the spread is "NO GOOD" for ND. You need to play like the Alabama or Stanford. Mentally and physically tough, running the ball and stopping the run to go along with good coaching. This team and all of the teams since Willingham don't resemble the teams of Holtz or Parseghian, where the players were mentally and physically prepared by game time.

The 3-4 is a pro "D" and I personally believe we need a 4-3 and a good "D" coordinator.

How can schools like Wisconsin, Iowa, Utah, etc., (who get "GOOD RECRUITS" but allegedly not the 3, 4, and5 star athletes that ND gets) win games on a consistent basis?

Answer: By good coaching, running the ball and playing tough "D."

I don't think Kelly is the "man." You need a fundamentalist coach in the old school mold.

Bring back LOU!

Let him coach and when he retires let him make a recommendation on whom he thinks should replace him.

I am out of patience.

Everything you said is true and I feel the same way you do. I dont wanna throw Kelly under the bus just yet but he's not helping the matter. Bring back Lou and lets pound the crap out of people again. I believe Lou still has 5 years of coaching left. Make him an offer.

Maybe Dr.Lou should sit down with the coaches and get them on the right track.

I think the 3-4 is the right defense for ND.
We can't get any defensive linemen to sign so how could we run a 4-3?

I too, HATE the spread.
I was hoping that Kelly ditched it until at the very least, he had his players in place.

I'm a firm believer in coaching to your player's strength and putting them in a position to succeed.
By forcing a spread on a prostyle team it's leaving me confused and very worried about Kelly's coaching.

I really believe we had the horses to line up and run defenses over this year. Sprinkling in the occasional play action pass. The oline needed to get stronger and this style would've installed a mentality in both lines. A killer instinct needed in a midwestern team.

Running is necessary, but lots of teams run well out of a pass first offense. Kelly has been trying to do that but the passing game hasn't been working. Once the passing attack is going the run will come.

Stopping the run is an obvious issue, I don't know what the problem is there, but tackling remains a problem which is frustrating.

We can't bring back Lou, and I think that suggesting that Brian Kelly doesn't understand fundamentals is goofy. He won with chumps at Cinci, and is struggling mightily right now, but things will improve so long as we can keep this recruiting class together.

If, however, the recruiting class falls to pieces, something major has to happen just as a symbolic thing. Creating a successful program is a lot of momentum, and we're starting to build a snowball in the wrong direction. If everything collapses this season (say losing Tuitt and a couple of the offensive recruits and we fall out of the top 20 nationally in recruiting) something major needs to change in order to create a perception that we're moving forward.

I am not saying Kelly doesn't understand fundamentals. He uses the New spread fundamentals. I am saying that in my opinion the old school ways seem to work better. You need to block, run, and tackle. We are not good at any one of these fundamentals. The mental and physical toughness of the players needs to be pursued immediately.

ND seems to play hard for a while during a game and then it appears that they get a "Ho Hum" attitude. I may be wrong but I have watched every game and been to 4 games and something is missing in their attitude.

Holtz' teams came out and kicked ***. I haven't seen that in years. Also, CW tried to instill the "Get Nasty" attitude. He was RIGHT about that. Remember the Miami game in 1988. Miami tried to intimidate ND in the tunnel and ND's players would have none of that. That's what I am looking for. A "this is our field" attitude and we are gonna beat your ***."

I also believe the spread, even if working tires your defense and allows the other team too much time to make adjustments and score. I just don't like it. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Thanks to everyone for your input I appreciate hearing from other fans. It helps me understand many things and see ideas that I may have overlooked. "Go Irish"
