New to this site, long time ND fan....

This is my first post to this site, yet I have been a ND fan since the early 80's. I grew up watching ND with my father, and have been a dedicated fan ever since. Through the good times, the bad, I have never stopped being a fan. I am however SICK AND TIRED of pulling for a team that seems to ALWAYS fail to produce !! Lets face it.......ND sucks, and has sucked for a while. Weis never should have lasted past his first season, now Kelly is starting to look like the same. Why can we not get our **** together ?? Id take Holtz anyday over what we have had to endure since Lou left. At least Holtz had fire and a way to put fear in the players to get the job done. The quarterback situation ?? LOL its a joke !! Ive seen better QB's in high school ball. Im sick of watching the gold and blue get their *** handed to them every Saturday....and quite frankly sick of defending them when Im about the only fan around here. And before you all bash and say whatever.........keep in mind, this 30 something fan is from West Virginia, and I still pull for you guys.

Yeah I realize it takes time, but c'mon !! The loss to the Spartans was poor coaching, and todays game looked like the Saints were playing the local pee wee team. Simply outmatched. Sick of it

Yea Crist has played well the first three games, he had a bad game against at the time was the #1 pass defense in the country. I didn't say he was a stud yet, but when he is developed he will be a stud.

He needs a lot of work, but this pretty much sums it up. He did put up 304 yards.

Why are you throwing him under the bus already? He's thrown for 1,155 yards with 8 TDs and 3 INTs. That's great when you consider he's a first year starter.

Jimmy in 07 lost how many games? was he not a great QB, it takes a team to win not an individual player. Crist is a btter player then Brantley at Florida, or Gilbert at Texas. Whats Luck's career record? it takes a team

My God, man. Do you see a correlation there? Dayne Crist had time to throw against Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State.

In those games, he went...

Purdue - 19/26, 205 yards, 1 TD - First start. Not bad at all. Crist stayed conservative.

Michigan - 13/25, 277 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT; Rushing TD - When he was in, the offense was in rhythm and moving. When he wasn't, they sucked.

Michigan State - 32/55, 369 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT - His best performance. Had time and took advantage of it.

And then today...when a young QB in his fourth start found himself facing the first true test of his career. Today was the first time Dayne Crist faced any pressure at all. He's young. Of course he's going to make mistakes.

He was 25/44 for 304 with a TD and an INT, not including a TD that was called back near the end of the game. What more could you ask for from a first year starter facing a legitimate BCS contender and the first legitimate pressure of his career?

First year starter. Those mistakes can be fleshed out, and when they are, Crist will be deadly.

Im just sick and tired of ND always managing to suck....a decent season here and there, then back to the norm. I can remember when ND was feared by other teams, now they are joked about. South Bend used to be the one place teams hated playing in, now they look forward to it. Total BS.

And as far as "what more could you want".....how about a QB that can rally his troops and be the leader that he should be and get it done ?? Is that too much to ask ? Apparently so.....Same thing with Clausen, same thing with Brady........"oh he's a stud"......we gave em a few years each....what happened ?? It takes more than the QB. The recruiting has to be better, the skill level, the intensity, and the desire to win. I havent seen that in a ND team in a loooooong time, yet I still support and pull for them each week.

I came into this season with no expectations. New coach, new system, new QB. Face it, Crist for all intents and purposes is a freshmen. He is very talented and capable but is very green.
And as good as I think Kelly is, he can't turn this thing around in a year. You are not seeing his true offense . The defense will have to be recriuted heavily in the coming year. We have talent but team wise they have yet to gel. I have said from game 1 that this team will be much better towards the end of the year.

gents.....we just played 3 legitimate top 25 teams with one of them possibly a top 10 team
(Stanford)....2 of those teams we played very very close and it could have gone either way. We were beat soundly by Stanford.

All of this happening with a new coach....new QB.....lack of defensive depth......and learning a new system. Anyone that really understands college football or has watched it closely would realize that this team is going to be very good in the future and has a lot of potential. Combine that with the recruits on the defensive side of the ball that Kelly is stacking up (top 10 class if not top 5) and you have the recipe for the rebuilding of a program.

If you get this pissed over a building year and attack the team or coach in this manner, I can't see you as a true fan of the game or more importantly the Irish. Make sure that 2 years from now you come on here and admit that you were wrong......you could go on a Texas forum right now and call for Mac Brown's head because he is obviously all jacked up as well.....btw Stanford cooked up UCLA who just beat the number 7 team in the nation soundly.

Why not try pulling for another team then?...one that has an amazing QB, and one which never loses a game, you could change teams each week, that way you'd never get "sick and tired", and you'd have time to pull on something else instead.
