Orangebloods.com - One-on-one with DeLoss Dodds: ND, realignment and more

I figured that would get more hits. The article, mainly the first part, talks about ND having a home for its other sports in the Big 12 while retaining their independence in football if the Big East did crumble. It has also been proposed that Texas and ND just form their own conference, and invite other teams. I think the article is incredibly interesting, and if ND and Texas have banded together to deal with this landscape altering expansion, they will have a lot of clout to throw around. Just a very, very thought provoking article in my opinion.

Can you imagine playing in one of those other sports in the Big 12? It would be terrible (and the big east isn't all that great either). I think focusing on the business and treating leagues as interchangeable is a mistake: Notre Dame's athletes are students first, and the travel schedule should be as minimal as possible. There's really no excuse for us not to be in the Big 10.

I'm not going to argue that point at all, you are spot on. I think they would join the Big Ten if it came down to it, but maybe the Big Ten tries to screw ND and raids the Big East. I don't know for sure, but the Big Ten has been upset about being declined in the past. There are, obviously, so many possibilities with this realignment, that anything can happen. I am just incredibly intrigued by this.

Its definitely interesting: Texas and ND are as big-time as it gets.

This , to me is a very exciting and viable option, moreso than the Big Integer. Could you imagaine ND, Texas and just to throw it out there, USC starting a super conference to go up against the likes of the SEC..... Yikes. Add Oklahoma, TaMu, Pitt.....Call it the "Coast to Coast Conference" or whatever fruity thing they come up with.......

I would invite Nebraska, Navy and Army. To heck with it. I would invite Meatchicken too. Northwestern.

ND vs Texas in 12 different cities, At ND the first week, the last game in Texas. It'd be the game of the week EVERY week at 8PM on saturday night. Then play again in Hawaii for a bowl game. Screw everyone else!
