USC's offence looked good vs. The Warriors...
Their D looked like hot garbage, and I should know, I've seen it for the last two years. The lack of tackling shouldn't of affected how open Hawaii receivers were, somewhere Vol fans are beginning to smile.

USC did not scrimmage in camp. This game was proof of how dangerous that can be.

I also think USC thought this was going to be a warm up game and did not have their head in it.

By the time USC plays ND, both of the above will not be a factor.

Monte has a hard time defending the spread. If you notice when USC got Hawaii in 3rd and long they switch to the tampa 2 covarage, well Hawaii started running draw plays and picking up the first down off of it.

What was so frustrating about Hawaii was their refusal to run the ball more. I simply don't understand why they passed so much. Every time they ran the ball they had really good success, but would then rely heavily on the pass game.

They got the ball 1 yard off the goal line and they passed THREE times! WTF? You can't run the ball one yard?

The 2nd time they got on the one yard line they finally ran the ball for an easy score on what I think was 3rd down.

Hawaii simply isn't a well coached team. Even if they're undersized against USC, poor fundamental tackling, confusion on lining up defensively, and dropped passes did them in. AND way too much passing. They would have been hugely successful if they had run the ball more.

When USC actually plays a good opponent who punches them in the mouth, we will see what USC will be like this year: average.

That's their main downfall.. They have talent to keep in there with USC. I think you keep the scheme just get a better coaching staff that will teach these kids the fundamentals.. By the way the Tampa 2 hybrid doesn't work against spread offenses.

I like that Hawaii had 400 passing yards!!!!

I hate that USC went fot 2pt conversions the
way they did!

Hard to tell about USC's O since
it was Hawaii, but its clear there D has some
poblems.

Yeah, that's not even close to being true. Not sure where you're getting your info Polish, but USC started just one freshman on defense, not 7 (they also started one freshman on offense). And that one freshman on defense was getting picked on ALL GAME LONG. Redshirt frosh Torin harris also played a lot and also sucked.

I told SC fans this all summer: You cannot run college practices NFL-style. It just doesn't work. We all saw it with CW, esp in '07. College kids need to tackle. You can't simulate the speed and the cuts and all that in shorts and shoulder pads. You just can't. I know they did it out of necessity, but it will continue to hurt them. And their young secondary SUCKED last night, Jawanza Starling included.

As for Barkley, he's a damn good QB guys. Yes, guys were wide open, but he made plays. He did the same things against us last year. And he's barely starting his soph year. If he was at ND we'd be blowing him up right now.

But yeah, watching SC suck last night defensively was awesome!

Maybe I misheard the quote on espn. Maybe they played 7 freshmen in the game.

OBSERVATIONS from the game:

1. Barkley is a pretty good QB

2. USC #8 is a load

3. USC OL/DL is huge and athletic.

4. USC Defense is gonna need a lot of work.

5. Lane Kiffin is a jack ass

6. Some very intresting calls by the refs.

7. Hawaii's Greg SALAS is the real deal

8. I cannot wait for Notre Dame to beat the crap outta USC this year.

On a side note the USC fans were well behaved. Did not notice any trash talking. Maybe they were scared they would get thier ass handed to them if they tried to mess with the natives.

if I can be competely politically inncorrect ('honest' would be the world we used to use here) the trash talking, jack ass, band wagon, idiot SC fans who give the school a bad name don't have the money to fly to Hawaii... that won't happen until Hawaiian airlines starts accepting EBT.

;)

haha that one got me chuckling
thanks camp

I got a feeling that Crist and Co. will move the ball with ease on that Trojan defense unless they find a way to plug those holes in a hurry!

Well played Warriors

It's not politically incorrect, it's effing true. "Raider fan" wasn't there, so of course they were much more well-behaved. They also got a nice big piece of humble pie handed to them by the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors...
