ESPN RISE High School Football Kickoff: Live in HD Across ESPN Family of Networks | ESPN MediaZone

Some high school football to pass this weekend! I started this under the impression that we would get to see Prestwood play, but he attends Plant City and not Plant. I figured I'd post this anyway. I did a quick check and didn't see anyone we are recruiting, who will be playing in these games but maybe the big guns such as BGIF might know more. I would watch a Pop Warner game at this point.

Phillip Ely plays for Plant. There are certainly some great recruits that are going to be televised, I just didn't know if any were on our radar.

I wish Grand Blanc HS(Justice Hayes) or Bishop Dwenger HS(Wright) was schedule. I wouldn't mind seeing St Peter's Prep(Huggins) either..

Yea no shit. While I don't want to base my entire opinion of Wilder on this game alone, he hasn't lived up to my expectations. It is the first game of the year, and Manatee certainly appears to be a much better team, so that should be taken into account as well for his offensive woes. As for defense, he is just tentative, and sloppy in a lot of his tackles and plays. I'm sure his measurables are off the charts, he's going to need some coaching.

Great review of Wilder. I was just thinking he hasn't lived up to his billing. Is me or is Manatee in better condition than Plant?

Manatee is better conditioned and just an all around better looking team in my opinion. Manatee also has those two monsters on the inside, who were blowing up plays all day. The announcers said that Plant was replacing a ton of starters, but the polls kept them ranked high. In either scenario, Wilder was not impressive to me. I watched him try to jump on Blakely's back to try and tackle him! His future, like most analysts have predicted, is on the defensive side of the ball, but he didn't even seem to care the entire game. I saw no fire or passion from him at all, and that very well may be because they got their asses handed to them, but even when it was close, he was not a leader, and he was not making plays. Again, I hate to be critical of him for just this one game, but there was really no representation of what I'd expected to see from him. The analysts all agree he has the potential, and he is clearly an athlete, but he is well short of being a quality football player in my estimation. He has plenty of time though, and I'm sure once he realizes he isn't a running back, Stoops is going to turn him into a fine defensive player.

Damn it!! It won't let me rep you, I have to spread it around.. Anyways, are you going to catch the games tomorrow? I really want to see Aaron Green and Malcolm Brown go at it.

This is a preseason game so I wouldn't judge him on this performance. If you watch footage from him last year he was a force. He had some ungodly number like 56 tackles for loss. As for RB, he is not very good though.

Is anyone watching the Grant vs Folsom game? Shaq Thompson (2012) kid is a beast.

Yea if I get up that early.. What pisses me off is Moeller is on TV a year after Hendrix is gone.

Really, it is on live right now on ESPN 2 on the westcoast.

Grant is utterly destroying Folsom and controlling the line of scrimmage. They got some big boys up front.

That 35yrd run by Folsom QB was impressive. He made some great cuts. Shaq is a lock down corner. He's 6'0 isn't he?

I won't completely judge him on this performance, but it is a nationally televised game, and he didn't even really appear excited to be playing. Like I said, he obviously is a tremendous athlete, but he doesn't look like a tremendous football player. I'm sure he'll have gaudy numbers, but how many powerhouses like Manatee will he be playing against this year? Kids want to show their skills against the best, or so I thought. He'll be fine at Florida State though, I was just expressing my disappointment with his play. He's better than I ever was, that's for sure!

DirtySecret, I will be watching the games tomorrow as well. I'm looking forward to watching those backs go at it! Good slate of games. I really like Folsom's heart. Grant is clearly a much more talented team, but they were keeping it close for a bit and they still haven't given up.

I believe around 6'0-6'1/185. Dude is legit WR, definitely should throw him an offer right now. He has played RB, WR, PR, and DB so far tonight.

Yeah I'm not gonna lie, he looked like shit for the hype he is getting. Curious if he will pan out to RB though, doesn't seem like his game translates the college and pro levels. He has not improved or changed his style from last season at RB. He can be a great LB right away.

As for Grant, they could beat Washington St 45-7 right now. LOL But we should get in the running with Shaq, he is already getting offers from PAC-10 teams as well as TEX.

Offer Shaq now! I just saw him boot a punt too! The kid can do it all. He's only a junior too, so it looks like he'll be "big skill" from a Kelly standpoint.

I really love the Folsom QB and his WR #3, because of the underdog role and the fact that they are not quitting.

Yeah this kid can do it all. He was also high in contention to be Grant's starting QB.

We need to offer this kid fast, I hear Cal and Wash have been talking to him since he was a sophomore.

Wasn't Hoover the team MTV followed one year? Why the hell is Brynes on again this year? Don't they know Lattimore doesn't play for Brynes this year? I wish they would of put on Bishop Dwenger..

Other than my complaint, it was a defensive battle..

Yeah Hoover was the team that had a reality show on MTV. Did anyone catch that block thrown on the Hoover player towards the end of the game?

No, I was probably on the way from picking up my lunch.. I love S.Pointe offense. The triple option or double wing is the way to go in high school.

The play Worley just made was pretty amazing, he was almost sacked by 3 guys including CLowney, instead stepped up in the pocket to connest on a 19yrd TD pass

It was a good play, but I can't wait until tonight!! Steele v Madison....

Amazing was probably the wrong word to use but it was good considering the top recruit in the nation couldn't get him down.

but your right tonight will be alot better with Brown and Green going heads up, should be a good game to see which one steps up
