Filer is beast.

Lo Wood has "really come on". Great news.

And Tommy Boy Rees in the mix for the second string quarterback job? Boss.

At about the 2:58 mark, one of the coaches ( I assume the o-line coach) tells the O-linemen, "I know what soft is - all I have to do is put in the film from last year. I want to see toughness!"

I don't know about you, but I laughed my ass off when I heard that. Nice dig at the players (and the previous coaches as well I guess). Love it.

No offense, I don't need digs....I need results. F$ck the digs at the previous regime. These guys haven't done $hit to dig anyone on the "Big Boy" stage. Win a game and then they can get their digs in all they want...Talk is cheap at this point and I'm sick of talk.

I don't care about the dig at the old regime, I was talking about the dig at the kids being soft, which let's face it, they have not been the ND maulers that we grew up watching. Soft physically and mentally gets you losses, and that's what we've been.

Like you said, it's just words, but damn, it's true...can't be soft. And at this point, every year, it's always just talk. That's all we have as we can't see them really practice and the games don't start for 3 weeks.

We better hope they aren't soft.

100% in favor of Filer starting outside with Fleming.

I think B. Smith should start inside.

Wasn't it Filer over the summer who was able to jump waist deep out of a swimming pool & land standing up?

B Smith played inside last year remember. That didn't turn out so well. His natural position is outside.

but yeah I'm also in favor of Filer starting w/ Fleming.

During one of these practice films one of the coaches said " I know what soft is ,all I have to do is put on the film from last year. I want toughness.
Hit the nail on the head.

I like the attitude - our O-line seemed reactive the last few years - being Proactive is all in the mindset.

I am not so sure about that: this group of "guys" did OK at Cincinnati last year. I think they know what they are talking about. Our offensive line has been a disgrace for the last 15 years, ever since Bob Davies fired Joe Moore (and thereby lost any chance he had to be a successful coach).

He also played outside in 2008 and that didn't turn out any better either.

B. Smith's strengths are tackling guys head on and he's pretty decent in pass coverage.

He struggles attacking the ball carrier from an angle, playing in space and I've never thought he was that fast, athletic or intuitive on the outside.

Especially in contrast to Fleming and Filer, I've always thought B. Smith was a middle linebacker.

In contrast to Fleming and Filer, Smith is not as good.

I like Fleming and Filer on the outside and Mac and Teo in the middle. B Smith talks alot and backs it up- some of the time.
