Best summer ever?

* Great coach at ND in the mold of Lou Holtz, a proven winner and a motivator and a guy who holds players accountable? Check.

* ND recruiting well? Check.

* USC imploding, getting a 2 year bowl ban and MAJOR scholly reductions for their cheating ways? Check.

* ND with a better coach than both Michigan and USC, our chief rivals? Check.

* USC's AD firing off the line of the decade, regarding the NCAA: "They all wish they were Trojans". Check.

* USC hiring a walking violation/controversy/bad coach and watching them create more controversy? Check.

* Michigan imploding, losing players (esp in the backfield), and a coach in turmoil?

* NCAA investigating Michigan? Check.

* NDinL.A. extremely happy? Checkmate.

Oh, and USC just suspended their super freshman Dillon Baxter for the Hawaii game for breaking curfew. Love it love it love it. This has been an absolutely phenomenal summer!

EDIT: He was busted for smoking weed, among other transgressions the past 7 months. Smoke on young man!

In a sure shot to their CB corps. ...

Not so sure it's as big as it seems. He's a loss on paper but didn't see the field.

He came in highly rated, 4 Star #3 S, but I believe had Clearhinghouse problems. He then showed up out of shape and sat out the year. It wasn't an auspicious start.

Phil Steele had him listed as a backup CB behind a Soph JT Floyd who didn't have Turner's creditentials, 3 Stars, NOT Rated ATH, but played in 9 games last year starting 2. Plus he was being pushed by freshman Cullen Christian who was Rivals #8 CB this year.

Turner didn't get a shot at FS as redshirt freshman Camerson Gordon, a converted 4 Star WR has that claimed. Jordan Kovacs the other S is a soph.

Don't know but suspect his attitude coming in and his lack of PT in a young secondary got him looking elsewhere.

Here's are some other UM headaches (not all new)

Michigan Team Report - College Football - Rivals.com

Aug 6, 2010

Roster Report:

• DB Demar Dorsey came to Michigan from Florida as one of the top recruits in the nation, bringing along a reputation as a ferocious hitter, and someone who frequently wandered over the line and was in trouble with the law. Michigan took a closer look at Dorsey’s issues, and the admissions office denied Dorsey entry.

• LB Antonio Kinard, a prized recruit from Ohio, failed to meet the academic requirements and will not enroll at Michigan this fall.

• QB Conelius Jones, an athletic player from South Carolina and part of the 2010 recruiting class, failed to meet Michigan’s academic admission requirements.

• RB Vincent Smith missed spring ball while rehabbing after knee surgery. Smith was a regular part of the offense a year ago, and is expected to work his way back into a quasi-starting role.

• C David Molk missed the contact work in the spring while rehabbing from injuries he sustained last season, but is expected to be back anchoring the offensive line in time for the 2010 opener.

• DT Mike Martin was injured and missed the contact work in the spring, but Michigan’s defensive plans call for Martin to be a regular on the defensive line this season.

• DE Will Heininger tore his ACL in the spring and is expected to miss all of the 2010 season.

You forgot one.

You forgot one.

Said coach's recruiting practices being investigated by the NCAA, in regards to the #1 rated recruit from last year.

Michigan is really short at CB this year, I'm not sure who they excpect to cover Floyd.

Warren? Left early for the NFL Draft.

Cissoko? In Prison.

And now Turner.

"Turner was a consensus top 40 national recruit from Massillon, Ohio. He was ranked as a five-star recruit by Scout.com and named the best player in Ohio from his recruiting class by Rivals.com."

Goes to show that the value of those 'star ratings' aren't everything!

From a Michigan fan’s perspective.

There are few ways to look at this, one, he didn’t start, wasn’t going to start, and probably wasn’t going to work hard enough to even be second string. Two. This sucks, we really can’t afford to lose a 4* corner, not with our lack of depth. Three, OMG FIRE RR, HE’S GOING TO GO TO osu I KNOW IT!!!111!!!

I’m kinda a mix of one and two, I don’t think he was going to put in the work to make it on the field, but still sucks because we have little to no depth back there.

It sounds like the wheels are falling off the bus! scUM is gonna need an engine overhaul if their hearing with the NCAA doesn't go in their favor.

Really? I haven't heard of this rumor? Is it even a rumor yet, or just speculation?

LOL no, I don't think he can go to a B10 school without having to pay tuition. I just said that because of the whole Justin Boren situation, it was just meant to show the varying of emotion that Michigan fans have right now. Regardless, I'm just ready for football to start.

This has been a crazy last 8 months or so. It's weird how for years all I would hear was that ND's glory days were over and that they would never recruit and thus compete with powerhouses like USC. That whole rhetoric has completely disappeared with the shit storm that is now hanging over L.A. I LOVE IT!!!!

We need RichRod to do just "OK" enough to keep his job and keep Harbag at Stanford.
