That movie never gets old, never! I get goose bumps when they play the Notre Dame victory march, and other fight songs during the practice scenes. The ending always brings a tear to my eye. Like I mentioned in the Knute Rockne thread, I watch this movie the Friday before the season opener, as part of my "pump up" night.

Being that i'm a HUGE Notre Dame Fan, and actually do a fascimile of the Rockne speech at tailgates at Notre Dame games that I attend, when I first saw Rudy, I must have cried in 8 different scenes in the movie. I related to his dream and to his feeling of despair when the door seemed sealed shut to him pursuing the dream.

I've seen the movie about 50 times since it first came out, saw it 8 times in the theatres that year alone.

Today, the only scene that still gets me everytime is when he hits that field and the music crechendo's (jerry goldsmith was a genius) I still get goose bumps and my eyes fill with tears... then when he gets the sack and is lifted up on to his teammates shoulders I break every time. Can't help it, and not ashamed to admit it. !!! GO IRISH !!!

PS: KNUTE ROCKNE ALL AMERICAN IS PLAYING this Tuesday morning at 9:45 am on Turner Classic MOvies... channel 256 on directv. (6:45 am if you are on the west coast like I am).

Here's the actual play sequence. It wasn't a solo tackle.

Otherwise, I have trouble discussing another man's "sack."

The soundtrack is on my iPod and its great pump up music for anyone who has seen the movie. I cry every time I watch it and I have that Rockne speech memorized. That movie, that soundtrack, and Notre Dame: Wonderful things.

Love it cuz I lived it. Was in the band and played at the premiere, then they showed the movie for the band at the theatre down the road.

Can say that EVERYONE was sick of Rudy by the end of the '93 season. After playing the music for the halftime show for the umpteenth time, most had had enough.

That said, one of my fave flicks of all time.

One of the best moments in the movie is towards the end when Rudy's dad is entering the stadium and he tells Rudy's brother something like "this is the greatest scene that my eyes have ever seen."

THAT's how I feel anytime I get the privilege to attend a ND game
