Where Would You Rather Watch A ND Game?

Would you rather watch it on TV or at the stadium? I used to be big on the stadium but after having a man hauled out on a stretcher, a disputing pair of men, and teenagers who used my bleacher seat as a footrest I'm beginning to believe that the stadium may be overrated. What is your opinion?

Been a fan since 93, but living in New York, and having never been to a home game at Notre Dame stadium, I would say I'd rather go to a game. Hopefully one day I'll be able to make the pilgrimage.

Overall, I'd rather watch on TV. Instant replays, don't have to worry about being on the 'wrong end' of the field to see the action, beer and the pisser are readily available, my recliner is much more comfortable than a stadiium seat, plus I don't have to battle the crowd in and out. BUT, gameday atmosphere at a ND home game is 2nd to none! That's why once a year I like to leave the comforts of home and take in the pagentry at the stadium (tailgating, walking the campus, being in the stadium for the game, etc.).

For me, easily at the stadium. Being from out of town, I get to go to about one game a year, so it's a real treat to watch the game inside that beautiful stadium. And there's nothing like watching the Irish beat down an opponent with 80,000 of your closest friends.

Now, for other sports, I agree, I'd rather watch them from home unless I have GREAT seats. This way I avoid the traffic, paying for parking and food and beer, and not being able to see the game and/or replays with a great view. At home or at a buddy's house I get the BBQ, the big screen, the beer, the bathroom, etc, all within a few feet.

But for college football...the tailgating, the craziness of the students and fans, the anticipation, just the whole atmosphere...there's simply nothing better.

I live like 3 miles from campus and like the other people said, it's nice to get out to the game once a year I'd say.

There's NOTHING like being in the stadium. It's just not the same watching it on a tv. Cheering like crazy w/ the fans, watching the band and team come out the tunnel. The band at half time. Singing the alma mater at the end of the game. Watching and participating in the electricity that takes over the stadium when we score a TD (along with TD pushups). There's nothing better than that imo.

Plus u can watch the replay on tv the next day after being at the real game. I always miss one or two things from the stadium seats, but not much.

There really is no comparison. The stadium atmosphere is WAY better. Where would you rather be, sitting at home with a couple friends watching the game or watching the game with 80,000 other Irish fans screaming Irisch chants and the fight song? Sure watching the game on tv you can see the play better and you can see the action more clearly, but college football is about the atmosphere. The atmosphere at the stadium exponentially increases the enjoyment of the game. I only get to about 2 games each year since I'm from Iowa, but I savor the moment when I'm out there.

It's easily the stadium and anyone who says TV hasn't been or had some weird bad experience. There is no place better.

NFL was made for TV. College football was made for attending.

Been there many times. I will say this. That stadium is not meant to seat a big dude. They have you squeezed into about an 18 inch area and at that point, it's like stuffing 10 pounds of crap in a 5 gallon hat.

Love the tailgating experience and the sights, sounds and smells of a saturday on campus. That said, the SB police and the Excise police have gone out of their way to make a game day experience very unenjoyable. It's a shame because for the most part, things are extremely tame.

We really enjoy going to the Spring games in April where the stadium is half filled, the kids are able to move around if antsy and everyone can relax after a morning of fun.

Other than that, I love watching the game on my big screen here in the "man cave". :) Fridge is always stocked with food and suds, the bathrooms are readily available and we can ship the kids upstairs with the ladies while we enjoy the game downstairs. Plus, any given saturday we've got 15-22 people here for a ballgame so that makes it fun as well.

The Stadium!!! I love the whole game day experience. Though to be perfectly honest, I liked it even better in the stadium before the renovations.

stadium, luckily i have a more "stadium friendly" body type, i usually go to 2 or 3 nd games a year, (from indy BTW) always the opener, one late fall, and usually the home closer. I would have said home if i had not been one of the 78,000 or so luckiest ND fans in 2005 and was at the USC game, that game showed me what our fans are capable of, what college football can do, that was when, for the first time in nearly 20 years, we literally shook down the thunder from the sky. It was the most incredible feeling iv'e ever had, ever since then, i have longed for the the day when THOSE games were the games Notre Dame played EVERY year, now we might have a chance, even though its just a chance, i want to be there.

if im not mistaking Pat Haden was just hired as the USC Athletic Director. Thats one out of two.

Still got Hammond. Lining up in the back field is Barry Gallup(When it actually was James Aldridge)

I've never been to a game at Notre Dame stadium, and I hope to go this year. It'll probably be a lesser game I go to (Western Michigan, Tulsa), and I may go to the Army game at Yankee Stadium.

After I go (if I go), then I'll have an answer.

If you haven't been, get tickets. Sell your kidney, just get up there. It's so special and you'll love ND even more. The stadium, the atmosphere, the fans, great. Notre Dame Stadium is why college football>NFL.
