If I wasn't convinced the NBA was a joke before this summer's FA circus, I am now. Its less of a professional sports league and more of a train-wreck reality show. Now I'm rooting for a lockout next year that will bury the league. It might even make sports center watchable again.

The NBA championship series finale got good ratings, so no the NBA is not dead.

Rating wise, the NBA is actually closing in on the MLB.

But I'll always be more of a MLB fan.

no it's not... MLB still beats it on average ratings and the ticket sales are crazy better... even when you compare precentages and not straight numbers... and really any sport that has limited games will always have a better ratings push because of the exclusivity of the games... (for example Football>Basketball/Hockey>>Baseball) actually the NBA is being pushed by a sport WITHOUT a TV contract in the NHL (link below) so no, it's not gaining on MLB, it's being challenged by a sport without a legit pressence in the media... talk to me when the Cubs play the Yankkes in the world series and compare those ratings to Celtics/Lakers... just because ESPN has made some push to not lose their butt on their NBA investment by pumping up the product at every turn doesn't mean the the NBA is relevant in anything but jersey sales... because other than jersey sales... it's not really that big on the whole of the sports landscape.

I was just quoting ESPN... They mentioned on PTI yesterday that the NBA was "making up ground" on the MLB... They didn't throw out any numbers so I can't back them or myself up.

doesn't suprise me... I stoped watching their shit programingand I still can't escape the fact that it is obvious they have changed their coverage to be pro NBA and anti MLB...

I would bet money they are losing money on their NBA contracts and the MLB contract is doing just fine.

I stopped caring about the NBA a few years ago. So much of the game is played above the rim, it doesn't even resemble real basketball. The majority of the guys in the league don't even know how to shoot a jump shot anymore. I'll take college basketball any day over the NBA.

SportsCenter has made me hate the NBA, it has also made me hate the AL and NL East.... it seems like every baseball game they have on the team is from one of those divisions.

Back on target I don't think I have watched a full Regular season NBA game in my life, it seems very slow and all about the slam dunks and getting in the SC top 10 than winning games

I hate pro-basketball. College basketball is where all of the fun is to be had...
