I am going to Notre Dame for the first time for the week 1 game against Purdue. I am from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania but I love Notre Dame. I am leaving early in the morning friday, going to the game on saturday, and leaving sometime in the evening on sunday. Since I haven't been there before, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fun things to do on/off campus other than the college football hall of fame, the grotto, going to mass, the bookstore, and the pep rally. Anything else?... Thanks a lot.

Make sure you get some saltwater taffey, they sell it in the stadium at booths in the halls. Mmmm.

Everyone loves going to the Linebacker for a beer but I think its overrated, check it out for yourself. Some guys did wander in a few years ago wearing foam outfits of Lou & Charlie, looked like they were from the Flintstones but were awesome nontheless

I was there this summer and preferred Mulligans Sports Bar and Grill over the Linebacker. It is right across the street from the LB! I know the LB is a 'must see sight' but Mulligans really was one helleva time. The owner is a great guy, huge Irish fan and the atmosphere was great. Very young crowd, said he usually gets former Irish players in when in town. Lots of ND memorabilia. Also the food was amazing.

I love going to Rocco's on St. Louis Blvd. It's a great pizza, and a great experience, I wouldn't suggest going after the game, just too packed.

If it's at all possible....leave on Thursday and spend more time seeing the campus on Thu/Fri. The bookstore will be much less maddening than on Fri (or Sat) too. On gameday, it's worse than the mall at Christmas.

I'd 2nd the recommendation to check out the stickied thread on going to a game at ND....

Rocco's was two blocks from my house... how I will miss thee... :'(

Cheesy Garlic Toast is indescribably good.
