LIfka Names Early Top 5

Per Chris Pool, ESPN
LB Lifka names his top five; Duggan still waiting - ESPN

4/16
One of the top linebacker prospects in the Midwest is Nick Lifka (Naperville, Ill./North). The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder has several scholarship offers under his belt and right now he's taking it all in.

"I have offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Ball State, Boston College, Eastern Illinois, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Stanford and Western Michigan," said Lifka. "I don't have a leader. Boston College, LSU, Indiana, Mississippi State and Western Michigan would be an early top five."

He recently visited LSU and raved about its coaching staff and facilities.

Lifka committed to BC. I think we missed one here. Never got an offer from ND which is too deep at ILB position.

BC is a bit of a suprise. He seemed to be leaning LSU after a visit there and getting offered. He was supposedly planning a return visit to camp in Baton Rouge when he committed to BC.

I didn't find a 40 time for him on any site except ESPN which lists him at 5.01. He might hit like Manti but he doesn't seem to have similar footspeed which might explain the scarcity of big time offers.

Shame to lose legacy.

Best of luck to him at BC (except when they play us). Wish we could have taken him because i think he has a nice upside but he was a project. LSU wanted him as a FB so that may have swayed him
