What are your expectations for Dayne Crist?

I agree with eveyone... on both sides of this... a QB is the leader and if your tem sucks and can't win, it DOES reflect on you a bit, and rightfully so... BUT a good player is still and good player... no matter the team record... as far as a team game... if that's the case then in fact everyone is what the team's record is... and the past two years we've been average...

anyway, the the og response to my post... I said I expect Dayne to be near or just below Jimmy in prodcution numbers wise, if he stays healthy... remember, the question isn't what I WANT from him... but what i expect... I have also said I expect at or around another .500 season, so in that regard I expect DC to be similar to Jimmy also....

Hold down the QB spot, don't turn the ball over and don't try to do too much.

I hope we have a legitimate ground game, minimal turnovers, and that Dayne has embraced the new system. It's unlikely that Dayne will match Jimmys numbers, but having 2 years in the system, we can hope. Having a 5 star recruit lead the program is hardly the worst shape we could be in.

He'll have more INTs this year than Jimmy did last... but aside from that in this system... I think he'll be close to par with Jimmy... we shall see...

Fantastic point. I have made the comment often and even read on some forum somewhere a similar point: I think for a while there the ND QBs (not so much Clausen) were trying too hard and weren't simply "playing catch" with their receiver. It seemed like they thought the next pass was a toss into history.

Of course that is just my opinion, but for a while there the QBs seemed a bit too uptight. I think a poor passing scheme by the previous coaches had a lot to do with it. Hopefully Crist can play with a variety of pass options like RB flares (whatever happened to that?), screens, quick hitters, etc... to go along with the more complicated routes and reads.

ACamp, I dig your new avatar. I notice it says "In-N-Out BURGER", with no mention of wilted fries..

More INTs for sure, that's not a bad thing. It's just the fact Jimmy was exceptional at protecting the ball...

Even Peyton Manning has a lower TD to INT ration than Clausen did last season.

I'm sure Dayne's TDs will make up for the INTs though.

I was wondering....

Do you guys think Dayne is going to be an effective runner?

I know he's no Tim Tebow, but I'm curious to see his stats from running at the end of the year.

I think he'll be very conservative to start the year. ACL's are not easy to come back from.

Well im hoping he can put up huge numbers and take us to a national championship ! period duh !

what do i think though, i think the worst record we will have if Crist struggles will probably go 8-4, but i have faith that Crist can do better than that, this year's schedule doesn't seem that hard IMO compared to past years, so we have a chance to pull off a 9-3. 10-2, 11-1 type of records.......so i think he has a chance to take us to a good bowl game and hopefully win !

I didn't think Clausen could approach Quinn's #'s, so who know's with Crist. Gut feeling is 23 tds, 13 ints. Running game and D are huge variables in QB stats....
