Picked up an ND offer.

Hamilton caught 22 balls in '09 as he only played in 6 games due to a knee injury. Had the knee scoped.

Went to Michigan Jr Day. One of only 2 TE's offered by Michigan.

Wow, Scout dropped him for 4 Star #6 TE to 3 Star #15 TE.

Offers from ND, UM, OU, WIS WVU PIT and about 15 others BUT no OSU. Was that the reason for the drop?

He's added offers from UNC and ORE. He recently visited Chapel Hill picking up the offer.

This is nothing against Mr. Hamilton, but how many TE's is Kelly going after? It would be awesome to land another big time TE, don't get me wrong.

Current Depth Chart has Rudolph (May Leave after this season), Ragone (?), Eifert, Welch, Koyack, Golic, Roback (H-back/TE)

Targets: Jenkins, Vannett, Tapko, Niklas, Hamilton, Rodgers, Barnett, Rome - just looking through the Rivals website.

Now, I know we don't have a shot at all of them, but how many TE's fit into a spread offense?

I believe Hamilton was offered early by Kelly. Probably was on the UC list under Kelly.

Kelly's offered a bunch of TEs but he's also offered a bunch of DE, OT, WR, S types among others. Doesn't Kelly recruit body type rather than specific position?

TEs tend to versatile. Several on that list are probably targeted at other positions than TE. Rodgers is probably an OLB at ND. Several others you listed either don't have ND in their game or vice versa at this point.

Koyack filled the immediate need. I'd be surprised if ND takes another TE as a TE considering the number of scholarships available.

I may be wrong but I suspect Res Life will give Ragone a semester free of extracurricular activities. Considering he sat out due to surgery (medical year). If UND's Administration allows him into the Grad program, he could come back the following season.

Seferin-Jenkins, Barnett and Rome are not considering ND.

Vannett will be announcing his commitment after visits to Tenn, Va Tech and PSU. OSU is recruiting him hard for their second TE commitment, since they did not get any last year. He had serious interest in ND until Koyack committed and, since then, has not mentioned the Irish.

Hamilton initially was to visit for the Blue-Gold game, but visited family instead.

Tapko and Niklas are TE/DE prospects. Tapko has been quiet about his recruitment, may stay in the Midwest (Missouri, OU, Ks, K-St, Nebr) and has not announced any visit to ND.
Niklas has numerous major offers with interest in USC, which has not yet offered. He'll be visiting more schools this summer to trim down his list and will take all Official visits. Says most schools are recruiting him as a DE.

Rodgers is being recruited as an OLB.

TE Hamilton To Iowa

TE Hamilton To Iowa

Iowa has landed a huge commitment from Class of 2011 tight end Ray Hamilton of Strongville, Ohio.

Rated No. 12 among the nation's tight ends by ESPNU, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Hamilton selected the Hawkeyes over more than 20 offers, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

Among others were Akron, Arizona, Boston College, California, Colorado, Indiana, Mississippi, Oregon, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. His father, Tom, played for the Mountaineers.

Hamilton caught 22 passes for 300 yards and one touchdown in six games as a junior before suffering a knee injury.

The Hawkeyes now have six pledges.

I wonder if Coach Kelly would have taken him if he did want to come here, spot has depth and really filled up once Ben committed.

Yes, as a LB, DE, or OT depending on how much space (not much) remains at those positions.

He fits the flexible type of player that Kelly likes, as do quite a few of the other TE's ND offered.

I agree, but he must figure he's gonna start at a TE somewhere as he's that highly rated.

Same with Nick Vannett who verballed to OSU today. In his case he'll be starting at TE but actually playing Outside Left Tackle.

I just spat iced coffee all over my laptop.

Asshole.

I need to spread it around... but that was awesome.

I have fu*king coffee beans in my nose right now.
