wow... I just had a discussion about this... for a sport that has no TV deal worth mentioning hockey does very well when put up against basketball... If you listen to ESPN (a station that carries basketball and not hockey) Basketball is on a huge upswing and hockey is competely dead... that's not factual in either regard when you look at market shares and which league has lost money and attendance in comparrison to the other...

to me Hockey is far more entertaining... basketball is for ADHD people who can't stand alack of scoring for more than three seconds at a time... how exciting can a sport be when a three pointer is only three of 70-130 points scroed by that team???.... it's a bunch of meaningless action to me... hockey, like soccer and baseball and even football to some extent has tons of action, all of which actually matters in the final outcome of the game... when you score in those sports it matters so much more than in basketball... also, all sports have had rule changes, but nothing like basketball... the original design was so flawed... and the refs play far too large a role in deciding the outcome... (yes, football is going down that road too imo)

Yeah I love when I miss a period of hockey because of work and realize there were some goals scored. If I want to see them in the morning I have to wait 20 minutes until after they are done talking about the basketball game.

Andif itis on ESPN the replays almost always include the reporter either cracking on hockey OR admitting they know nothing about it and laughing... these are SPORTS anchors mind you... as far as ESPN is concerned, hockey is played from the same angle as Notre Dame Football... whenever mentioned someone on camera must bash it or downplay it...

wow... nothing is more meaningless in American sports to me than college baskteball imo... one and dones... a completely meaningless regular season... a "Championship" decided by a complete cluster f**k crap shoot tourney... I fail to see the point more every year...
