If the Big east goes away, we resurrect the idea of the Catholic League for all sports but football. A league including ND, Marquette, DePail, Loyola, Xavier, Detroit, Dayton, LaSalle, St Joes, St. Johns, Villanova, Providence, Georgetown, Seton Hall, St. Louis, Creighton, among others would be a solid conference.

I agree , especially if they end up having to join a conference and end up in the Big East for football. I don't know about the rest of you but I would rather see ND playing Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin compared to Syracuse, Louisville, and Rutgers.

NO WAY in hell will we become so behind that we will have to join a BIG EAST in football! If ND was to simply say..."WE WANT IN" ... conferences will leap to opportunity to have us. Maybe not the big 10 but still...



I want to see us schedule the B10 and B12 and maybe 2 cupcakes and dominate 2 good conferences in football. No more patty cake, we are independent for a reason... prove that we want to pick the best teams for our schedule not just any team. Coast to coast we need to challenge hard for a few years and were back to prominence.

Agree! ND wins and they will dominate college football as the only National team making, by far, the most money as an independant. They can call their own shots. They can start their own TV network if they want. If they continue to be mediocre, it does not matter if they are independent or in a conference. They will become irrelevant.

No way Loyola, St. Louis, Dayton, LaSalle, St. Joes, or Creighton could afford the travel costs that conference could bring. It is a little similar to the very good small private school with no focus on football conference that needs to be made.

I agree for all sports but basketball. It wasn't that long ago that Drake was a top 25 team. Detroit is going to be very tough this year with Ray Jr. Oral Roberts isn't Catholic. The crazy fundamentalist Oral Roberts founded it.

So here are my thoughts on this crap.

1). This just reinforces my belief that the whole b10 expansion was a ploy to force ND into the b10 It looks as though JS called the b10's bluff this time, now I think that there is going to be an expansion but Delany wants ND, and seemed pissed that what ever the response was from ND he was not pleased with. But I think they will make a few moves and try again, which leads me to my next point.

2). So I think Delany will now try to screw ND over, so I think raiding the Big East is the next stop, but I agree the Big East is a basketball conf and the BE doesn’t have the balls to give ND an ultimatum, get in or get out.
