I hope this hasn't already been posted. I looked but couldn't find anything.
I saw this article in the Tribunes web site about Coach Kelly on the road spreading the word and doing heavy meet-n-greet.
I'm impressed by the amount of work in the "off season". It must help to be a politicians son. I hope the link works, I'm not very good at this.

I don't agree with you on this one, ND.

We've all been "neutered" by the inconsistency of this program since '94. I think Kelly is doing exactly what he needs to do to generate enthusiasm for the fanbase. The reason why we're ND and everyone else is not is because of delusional fans (such as myself) that believe we can play for the national title every year. Glad-handing and making appearances are what this program needs right now to keep the faith. Oh yeah, and wins.

Being perceived as surly and unapproachable and spending more time on recruiting and the gameplan did not work for Charlie Weis. I wouldn't worry just yet that Brian Kelly is getting pulled away from the task at hand.

I agree; Both Ara and Lou were not just coaches, but great ambassadors for the University. So was (is) Jerry Faust; unfortunately he wasn't a great college coach.

Give me wins. Leave the politics to politicians. To keep a job, politicians tell lies and have to kiss emperor's asses.

Real football coaches may lose jobs nowadays for lack of diplomacy (kiss ass), but I will always respect them.

Case #1: Mike Leach

Case#2: Kirk Potter (Carlsbad Cavemen HS Football Coach)

I submitted his name and tagged his profile somewhat so that others may find a bread crumb trail...

I know, random, right?

LubbockOnline.com - Carlsbad coach's contract not renewed 12/20/03

Look, I'm not even going to conglomerate BK into the group of coaches responsible for too much politics and not enough wins. I'm just saying that too often disagreements occur between heirarchy administrations and coaches for lack of political savvy, or as others refuse to say, "kiss ass."

I look forward to BK. I am already in love with BK.

*Can somebody pass me the green kool-aid, with extra homerade?

Actually, we do agree. My "Strickland" comment was referring to the writer and the style of the article itself, not about Coach Kelly and his effort. I should have been more clear.
