I wish writers and broadcasters would drop the limo crap and leadership crap already. Didn't anyone of these fucking assholes watch the guy play? Give the negative crap a rest.

Give the man a fresh new start.

He was a great kid full of hope at a great University. Guess what. HE DELIVERED. His team didn't. Drop the negative on this young man.

It began by bringing up the limo thing again. Jimmy has already explained that. And he has already proven himself. Granted, he needs to do it again, but some things get old. Give it a rest

( BTW, Good read buddy)

No, it isn't. The writer uses the limo as a vehicle for the article. "Hummer", limosine" and "drive" are intertwined throughout the article. The writer could have noted that Clausen got a bum rap back when he made his annoucement as it was his DAD that hired the limo, not the high school senior. The writer could have but he didn't. Instead he promoted the lie, and then compounded it by tying it to Clausen's performance as a pro.

The hummer/limo/drive tie-in isn't left at the top of the article, in effect in the past, instead the writer hammers away in 3 of the 5 closing paragraphs with those buzz words.

Check the last paragraph:
... If, in the next few months, Clausen shows he can grasp a locker room as well as a playbook, forget the limousine. If Clausen can convince the Panthers he really is a team guy, he might end up driving this franchise from the start.

So if he struggles with the playbook, the limo lives on. BS!

Amazing isn't it? Other athletes kill dogs and people, do drugs, abuse women among other things and it's forgotten after a while, but the clausens rent a limo to share a pinnacle in jimmy's football career and Jimmy still gets shit over it 4 years later. Wow just wow

The media in all areas likes to build up guys but more so they love to tear them down. I think we all believe Jimmy will be starting by mid season. The coaching staff in Carolina is on the last year of a contract and unless they are in serious contention for the division theyxwill need tocshow the organization that the future is bright with tgier young qb. I like to see clausen sit the first couple weeks and learn and watch unless he completly oes in there and just wins the job. It's a great situation for him with two good rb's and a good line. Steve smith is the NFL version of golden Tate and Jimmy will be able to play action an have time to make reads. So let people question him in articles and on sprortscenter. He'll have his chance and willxshow everyone that passed on him thy they made a mistake. I also likenhow he has chosen to wear the number 2.

I think what we're seeing is a writer who really only blogs for the NFL and may have not heard all the facts about Jimmy or any other cfb player. And, unfortunately, if there's one thing non-ND fans remember about his announcement, it's the Hummer Limo.

But the article is trying to paint a good picture. Right now, on ESPN's NFL page ( NFL Football Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - National Football League - ESPN ) the article summary reads:

Cocky. Self-centered. If that was the Jimmy Clausen of old, there was no sign of him at the Panthers' first minicamp. The rookie QB looked humble -- and accurate.

Despite mentioning the hummer limo, I don't think the intent is to put down Jimmy. He's actually trying to compare who Jimmy actually is - especially, in comparison to some of the perceptions out there.

Moreover, the article does go on to write about how good Clausen is looking in his first-day of practice and how well he's getting along with his teammates. Good article, IMO.

Totally agree. This shows the hatred towards ND Teams and atheletes, look no further then Quinn and Clausen. Even herbstriet whom I usually respect, bashed clausen about "trash talking" give me a break, the NFL teams drafts criminals but because clausen plays with some fire in the belly, is that so wrong? These organizations Bills,Vikings,Seattle,Cleveland among others, will find out the mistakes they have made.
