... how many rides can we offer for 2011?

Around 20.

Depends on attrition and 5th years. I thought Eifert was through last fall but he's playiing today. Grades, ResLife, PT, momm's home cooking ...

Well if Koyack didn't see enought Saturday to convince him he'll see more receptions at ND than OSU than he won't be coming to ND.

Kelly showed ND is still the place for TEs to shine in the spotlight.

Unless he feels he can't compete with Welch, Golic, et al or he doesn't care for doing schoolwork.

He should have seen everything he needed to pull the trigger.

We did showcase how well the te can produce in this system. I also love the excitment these kids have in their commits. I liked weis and thought he was a good offensive coach. I think he is just a NFL guy. Kelly seems to love and excel at the college game a far as the coaching up of players and jst being apart of the kids lives and the whole media and publicity areas. Charlie seemed to push away from some media outlets that if use correctly can help and influence these high school kids. I think we will see more and more kids looking to us as time goes by but if koyak wasn't impressed today then he never will be. Also any of the defensive guys who may have been questioning depth or talent today may have helped with the vanilla defense they played because they may see opportunity or early pt. Who knows what'll happen but it's exciting

ND's got something like 95 offers out, 7 have committed to ND, 21 are committed elsewhere that leaves 67 possibilities plus anybody who changes their mind and those yet to be offered. I imagine if Pat Flavin was offered he accept immediately. There a couple of others who would pounce an offer before any of the 67.

Kyle Brinzda had visited ND's campus previouslybut I don't think anyone really considered him a viable prospect as ND only has around 20 scholarships available and recently took a kicker and punter. ND has an inordinate number of Special Teams scholarships on the team now. Most people thought the new staff would do a better job of coaching Special Teams so performance could improve without new scholarship kickers. Obviously Kelly didn't agree and Brinzda happened quickly (as least in public).

Matthias Farley also seemed to come out of nowhere. IrishEnvy started a profile on him the day after he was offered by ND. Three of the four recruiting services didn't have a profile for him or have him on their listed of interested prospects. Scout didn't have an article on Farley until he committed. Obviously the staff had contact with these prospects but it doesn't all get reported. The situation is fluid.

Of the 67 outstanding the most probable to me would be Ben Koyack or DaVaris Daniels. Both have been involved with ND for some time, both have been to campus, both were at the Blue & Gold game and got to see the differences between the Weis Offense and the Kelly Offense first hand. From reports both were impressed but didn't pull the trigger. The assumption is they wanted to go home and digest things rather then make a commitment during an emotional high. Reasonable to me.

After them Aaron Lynch is probable but I thought he wanted to make his decision before his senior season starts, not now. When a prospect states a timeframe for making his decision we put that in his Profile here. Chris Rock is another possibility but I don't recall reading a timeframe for him.

It looks like the consensus here is that it will be either Daniels or Koyack either of which will be a very nice addition to the program! But as BGIF noted you never know for sure and they could pop up out of nowhere!

As recruits commit elsewhere won't that free up some of our scholarships? Or did we hit our quota for DE's this year?

Not following you. The 85/25 rule is what matters. 85 total scholarships, 25 in a class in a given year.

How many scholarships ar e offered is immaterial, coaches like Orgeron send them out in bulk mail. It comes down to how many get accepted and turn into LOI's. ND apparently feels that they have enough accepted now publicly and privately or have enough positive feedback to decide they've filled the needs at a position.

Or did we hit our quota for DE's this year?

We only know what information's been made public not the actual score. They may already have commitments from recruits that have gone public yet.

Keep in mind with Rock he was one of the early offers from Weis last September. Diaco may have found others that he feels fit better. While Rock or his coach noted ND was full up at DE, there's a bunch of offers at that position and no other DE is saying, "Yeah, ND told me the same thing." Likewise ND appears to be full or close to full at OL but Walsh didn't say "ND told they're full at OL". I think it's probable that Rock tried to verbal but hadwaited too late and there was no room for him.

If Walsh gets the offer soon. I think he might pull the trigger pretty quick.

so with Koyack off the board the new top 2 most likely's are Daniels and Lynch with the possibility of it being another O-Lineman. when are we going to see some safeties and RB's getting into the mix? Also, i would say that there is a great need to find this years version of "Louis Nix" and get that type of player(potentialy) in back to back classes!

Sucks about Rock! i have alot of respect for the program he comes from out of C-bus and will hate to see him go to Michigan. but in the end it is probably best for the ND program to chase some more 4 and 5 *'s.

Hopefully it's Lynch and Daniels....

Kelly is really shut up the folks who worried about his recruiting abilities... which I admit I was one of them initially
