Matt James - Tragic News

Words seem inadequate at times like these. I hope that Matt's family and friends know that the entire Notre Dame Family grieves with them.

I watched Matt play when his team came to Louisville. He was down to a few teams at the time, and ND and UK were 2 of them, the teams I follow. He was so big. You could tell he was a leader, a well respected man. It's a shame I will never get the chance to see him again. He would have been a great man, on or off the field.

Prayers sent to his family and friends. We lost a girl from my daughter's team just 9 months ago, and it's always there, always in the background of the girls thoughts. It's tough.

It's very sad and disappointing too. Kids today don't realize what they have until it's gone. He had a great future ahead of him but now a family lost its loving son, classmates lost a great friend, and ND fans have lost a raising star.

It's one thing to have a few beers but you don't have to party real hard when you have a very bright future ahead of you..

This kid was barely starting out. Forget all the ND stuff, he hadn't even graduated High School yet. Alot of people had high hopes for him but he's got the best seat in the house now.

Anyone who reads this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be responsible when you consume alcoholic beverages. It can be fun, relaxing, and social but it can also be DEADLY.

Thank You Matt for reminding all of us how deadly alcohol can be. It could of happen to any of us but the Lord chose you to teach us all. REST IN PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay this isn't a big deal at a time like this at all, and I feel terrible. But, it has been bothering me that it says that he would have been in the class of 2015 on the front page thing. It should be class of 2014.

This story is so sad as the kid appeared to have a very bright future ahead of him. Matt was the recruit that I was most excited about from last year's class and he will be truly missed by the Notre Dame family. God bless his friends and family during this extremely difficult time.

I have waited a while to post anything on this great tragedy, but nobody will be affected more than his family and friends. this kid seemed to leave a lasting impact on everyone he has been around. I would also like to state that i have been on scout boards and every fan from UNC to even USC have sent there condulces to ND and his family. This is complete class by all of the poster.
